Tell us about yourself

My name is Vanessa, I am originally from Chicago IL, but currently live in Florida, and I am 23 years old!

Tell us about your modeling experience.

My modeling journey began when I had a close family friend tell me that he felt like I had modeling potential. He told me to get a few photos taken and to just see what happens. I remember during that first photo shoot I just had so much fun and just allowed myself to really feel that moment.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to just be happy and immerse myself around new people and new cultures. Growing up my family and I have really prioritized traveling, and because of that privilege I have grown to love learning new languages and learning from different people about different traditions and things that they value in their everyday lives.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I would describe my style as fun, yet simple and timeless.

Who or what inspires you?

My parents both inspire me. As teenagers they moved to the United States from Poland without knowing anyone or the language. Although, it was probably super scary and uncertain for them they not only made it work, but they ended up thriving. They are both very selfless and I owe everything I have to them.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

My biggest advice is what is meant for you will not pass you. This industry can be difficult, and sometimes there can be disappointment, just like with anything in life. However, it is important to keep trying and if something doesn’t happen for you, that means that it is because there is something better around the corner.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

At the age of 22 I was suddenly hospitalized and diagnosed with a very rare blood disorder. My doctors told me that I was in critical condition, and honestly was very lucky to survive. Being someone who never experienced any health issues, to then getting diagnosed with something so serious truly changed my perspective on life. I think it showed me that tomorrow isnt promised, and it is important to be grateful for the little things.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

I think what makes me beautiful is my personality. It might seem cheesy, but the reality is that without kindness and what is inside, the outside doesn’t matter.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Advice I would give to someone struggling with confidence is that there is only one of them. We can pick ourselves apart, but at the end of the day the only person we really have is ourselves and it is important to acknowledge all the amazing things about ourselves rather than our shortcomings. It is sometimes easier said than done, but when I struggle with confidence I tell myself that if I were to never say something like that/thinking that negativity about someone else, why am I saying/thinking that about myself.
