Tell us about yourself:

Hi, I’m Tabitha! I currently live in Denver, Colorado but I’m originally from Florida. I am a mental health and foster care advocate and plan to do many things to help my fellow former foster youth in the future. I have been in front of the camera and on stage my whole life, from vlogging videos when I was seven to theatre to public speaking. I love being center stage! I am an avid learner, graduating high school early and starting college has been my favorite accomplishment. I am currently a sophomore studying English but of course I have a passion for fashion!

Tell us about your modeling experience:
I have been involved with modeling here in Denver, my favorite show being Denver Fashion Week! I am a brand ambassador for multiple brands and model for them frequently. I am signed to Southwest Model and Talent Agency here and love all of the training and work I have put into perfecting my modeling skills. I have been an actress my whole life, but modeling has always been something I yearned to do! So here I am, doing it!

What is your biggest dream?

Oh, gosh, how do I pick one? I’m a big dreamer! My biggest dream for modeling is to walk for New York Fashion Week or Victoria’s Secret. My biggest dream overall is to have a very successful life where I am able to show that being in foster care and adopted does not define your future. I would love to be an inspiration to others.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

Beauty is relative and I say this all the time. I find humans and bodies to be works of art. Stunning, magnificent things but real beauty is in actions and your character. A kind, gentle soul is where someone’s true beauty lies.

Describe your fashion style:

Fashion style: My fashion style is very “dark feminine”. It borders on grunge but I don’t consider myself to be overly grungy. My fashion sense comes from my music taste, which is mostly rock and hard rap. I get a lot of my inspiration from artists and emo rappers. I love a good smokey eye and bold liner with an all black outfit. However, my fashion style changes based on my moods and I don’t like to put myself in a box when it comes to what I wear. I wear what I want to on that day because I feel like it!

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by so many of the amazing people in my life. I am very grateful to have one of the most amazing support systems in the world. Coming from a background like I did, I had the opportunity to meet many foster care advocates and professionals that inspire me on the daily. Not to mention the countless foster youth I have come in contact with whose stories make me strive to become a better human every day. My  family who chose to adopt me are so amazing and beautiful and I wouldn’t be where I was today without them. They inspire me to continue to reach for my goals and not give up my passions. My biggest inspirations, the reason I strive to be the best role model and biggest success, are my siblings. My siblings are my life, my loves, my favorite humans in the world. I wouldn’t be here without the love of my older brother, the kindness of my older sister, the courage of my little brother and the passion of my little sister.

What advice would you give someone who is just getting started in modeling?

My advice: Don’t be scared!!! I was so afraid to start modeling when I was younger, so I waited until I was an adult and that’s one of my biggest regrets. You are so beautiful and talented and can do anything you set your mind to! Remember, practice makes perfect! You might not nail your first casting or get into your dream agency at first, but try, try again. Don’t let the trials and tribulations get you down. Any creative outlet or career is going to be difficult, but remember, it’s supposed to be fun!

Describe some obstacles you have overcome and how they have changed you:

My life has not been an easy one. I grew up in an extremely abusive and neglectful household and was placed into foster care when I was 6 years old. Life was hard. Overcoming my trauma was hard. There were points in my life that were extremely dark and I was afraid that I would not make it out of them. But, every dark tunnel ends with a light. My family and my friends have helped me learn that I am worthy of everything good that has come to me. I am a survivor. I am strong. Everything in life happens for a reason, and if none of the horrible things that happened to me had happened, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

What makes you beautiful:

Beauty is such a difficult word to describe. I think someone that is beautiful is strong, resilient, intelligent, passionate, compassionate, open-minded and confident. I am all of those things. My physical beauty is usually what attracts people to me, but my heart is what makes them stay. I wasn’t always confident about my looks. I was bullied a lot through my childhood so being called beautiful now is a strange thing. I think I’m beautiful on the outside, but my beauty shines from beneath the surface.

What advice would you offer someone who is struggling with their self confidence?

My love, you’re so gorgeous and you are so worthy. People are cruel and they will find your insecurities and target them because they know it hurts you. Do not let someone’s words impact your feelings of self. Your uniqueness is what makes you beautiful. Embrace that! Shine like the star that you are! Never apologize for being yourself. Always stay true to your beliefs, passions and intentions. If someone doesn’t like that, they aren’t meant to be in your life. Have the nerve to be just who you are and not let other people change you or tear you down. Remember, what you see on social media is not always true. A lot is fabricated, edited so that we feel less confident in our lives. Don’t feed into it!
