Tell us about yourself
Hi, my name is Jai. I am a 22 year old Hmong American Women. I was born in Menomonie, Wisconsin. I love being artistic and creative, and I enjoy outdoor activities. I have a soft spot for animals.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I have done a variation of modeling, and would consider myself an experienced model. I have walked in more than 10 fashion shows, and have been published in 10+ magazines. I also have experience in, import modeling, studio, lifestyle, boudoir, and have also been in a few music videos as well. I have been featured in events as a model, and have founded Co-Curate Production, where I instruct others to walk and pose. Modeling has always been a passion. I have been able to travel and gain more knowledge, as I connect with many amazing artists, businesses and creatives. Although I have had a few bad experiences, I have found that in the process, it has taught me many important lessons and has shaped me into a stronger woman who understands her value.
What is your biggest dream?
I have a vision, where I own a variety of diverse businesses. I have my own fashion line, skincare brand, and many more. I also want to model for Rihanna's Runway, Victoria Secret, and get published in Vogue. I want to have a few songs, and possibly even have a Gallery to display Art and Fashion, where I can host events. I want to be able to help the homeless, and starving children, give to the people in need, and help support small businesses. I don't need to own hundreds of houses, or expensive cars. I want to come home everyday to a beautiful and warm family that gives me support, love and positivity. One that I can call home.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
Being your own kind of beauty, is to set your own standard of individuality. To become your own person. It's all about your fixed mindset, being consistent with loving and caring for yourself, while you stay humble. Your actions, and the attitude you establish should be one that holds true to your character.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion isn't just one aesthetic. I believe my fashion sense has a very keen sense of elegance, whether it be urban, classy, chic, or just casual. I genuinely enjoy styling, and my mood has a huge impact on what I wear.
Who or what inspires you?
I have always inspired myself. Till this day, I still look for the child in me from the past who had all her dreams crushed. I will make her dreams come true, even if I lost the passion for it now. I will make time, because I know I still love to do everything I have ever wanted to do. I am healing.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
Safety first, I cannot stress this enough! Invest yourself into connecting with others in a safe environment, and prioritize professionalism over everything. Speak your mind when uncomfortable, and keep in mind that not everyone is nice. Lastly, don't let others discourage you. You are growing, and improving along the way.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
The biggest obstacles in my life that have shaped me into who I am today is the trauma, and the toxic environments I grew up in. It has shaped me to become a very passionate person who genuinely enjoys the company of ambitious and aspirational people. I have become someone who is cautious, and careful. Someone who is civil, and considerate to all. I am one who enables growth, and inspires others, and I have a strong will to continue to improve on all aspects of life.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
What makes me beautiful is the way I carry myself with class, grace, kindness and confidence. Body language is one of the most attractive physical traits that makes me unique. Speech, as well as Mindset is what makes me beautiful. I am authentic.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
We all go through hardship and sometimes hit rock bottom, or go on a headache of a rollercoaster that just somehow manages to make us feel out of touch. There are days where you will look in the mirror and feel horrible, and other days where you think maybe you are enough. Honestly, I feel like that is okay, because we are all growing and building our character. Be kind to yourself. Go on an adventure to fall in love with yourself. Try new fashion, take pictures everywhere you go, take yourself on a date, and remind yourself about all the good things about yourself.
