Tell us about yourself

My name is Kayla K. I’m 20 years old and I’m a coed cheerleader at my university. At the university, I am studying broadcast journalism.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I’ve done modeling for photographers to promote their businesses. I’ve done some runaway modeling for local department stores as well.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream for modeling is to become a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

I believe your own kind of beautiful is when you love yourself regardless of your outward appearance, and allow the beauty from within to radiate.

How would you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style depends on the activity or event I’m going to but as a whole, I would describe my style as casual wear and business casual.

Who or what inspires you?

My little sister Faith is who inspires me. Faith my sister is someone who defines resilience. She was born with spina bifida, she’s had over 20 plus surgeries in her 16 years of life, and she inspires me every day to look at everything in life as a blessing.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

My advice to someone who’s just starting to model is to always be yourself as well as remember to give yourself grace and not to be too hard on yourself.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

An obstacle in my life that I've had to overcome is going through and experiencing the hardships my sister Faith had to endure all throughout her life. Through my sister Faith’s life, it has shaped who I am today by teaching me to have compassion and to understand that God has a plan for everything.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

What makes me beautiful is my confidence in knowing who I am.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

To anyone struggling with self-confidence, I would tell them three things. One, is that they are unique and special in their own ways and they should embrace their differences. Two, they are worthy and deserving just the way they are. Lastly, three, to surround themselves with positive people and to talk positively to themselves!
