Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

I am currently 24 years old and originally from Grosse Pointe, Michigan. I graduated in 2020 with my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Chinese from Grand Valley State University. I have a passion for modeling and love to stay as busy as I can!

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I have been modeling for about 5 years now. I began modeling at Grand Valley during my freshman year in a club called Model Entertainment. From that experience, my confidence and love for modeling grew immensely and I haven't stopped modeling since! In September of 2020, I signed with the Beauty in Me Modeling Agency and have been working hard to get experience in the industry, build my portfolio, and develop relationships with other creatives. Below are some of my accomplishments thus far:

- Beauty In Me All-Natural Fashion Show (July 2021- Saginaw, MI)

- Rock the Runway GR (Oct 2019-2021, Grand Rapids, MI)

- Fall Forward Fashion Show by Feminine Fire (Nov 2021- Grand Rapids, MI)

What is your biggest dream?

One of my biggest dreams is to contribute to the success of black people in this industry. Whether that means personally helping other black people achieve their goals, showcasing that black is beautiful while doing work in this industry so that other models can continue to see someone who looks like them and know that they too have a chance, doing model coaching, or really just helping in any capacity that I can.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

To me, being beautiful has less to do with my external appearance but more with my internal beauty. I believe that one has to have a beautiful heart, spirit, and soul. Almost as if a person radiates beauty from within. People tend to say to me that I just seem to have a light within that shines outwardly and to me, that is one of the nicest compliments I can receive.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I would describe my fashion style as current but individualized. I feel like I have a lot of trendy pieces but I always add my own twist. I also do not dress in only one type of style, so I feel like my style is versatile and that I can rock many types of looks.

Who or what inspires you?

God is my first inspiration for everything that I do because he continues to provide blessings and learning opportunities in my life.  My other inspirations are my family. I want to be able to make them proud and also show them that you can make a career out of doing something that you love!

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

Be true to yourself! Many times in modeling, people think that they have to change everything about themselves to fit in or meet a "standard". It is absolutely not true! Everyone is unique and beautiful in their own way and someone will give you a chance! Also, do not take rejection personally or let it break you down. Sometimes someone saying no to you can open up the door for many other people to say yes!

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

In my life, I have dealt with a lot of negativity, loss, and obstacles. However, the biggest obstacle I think I have faced is myself. A couple of years ago, I think I was the only person getting in the way of me accomplishing certain things.  I used to tend to not think the best of myself or would compare myself to other people.  It was almost as if I would make myself nervous about not being good enough. One day I realized that comparison is the thief of joy and I really started to focus on myself and what I wanted to achieve. With lots of prayers, self pep-talks, and just believing in myself, I have grown immensely and want to continue to grow and improve daily.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

I think what makes me beautiful is my big heart and my love for others. I truly have a special place in my heart for helping others or finding the best in someone when no one else will. I am also someone who is very patient and just has a positive outlook on life.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Remember to love yourself first. Whether you need to look in the mirror and say to yourself, I love you or you are beautiful or whatever. Love yourself because at the end of the day, you are always gonna be your biggest fan. Confidence will come when you are ready.
