Hello, my name is Shiah Sanders, I am 24 years old and I’m from Minneapolis, Minnesota! I am a former Division I volleyball player but now I am a full-time model!
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I have been modeling since 2016. In September 2021 I decided to take the leap and left my corporate position and became a Full-Time model! I love to learn and experience new things, but I am well versed in Runway, Commercial, Hand modeling, Feet Modeling, e-commerce, Print, Editorial and 'How To’ Videos.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream would be to win ‘Model of The Year.’ I know that that is a large dream, but when I was 10 years old I decided that I will receive a Division I Full-ride volleyball scholarship. I enjoy working hard and truly to bring someone’s vision to life fills all of my cups!
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
What is means to be your own kind of beautiful is confidence. My parents have raised us on the saying, “Always Confident, Never Cocky.” I enjoy wearing clothes that make me feel comfortable and beautiful. When I feel beautiful I’m able to make others feel beautiful! When you’re feeling your most beautiful on the inside, it absolutely shows on the outside!
How would you describe your fashion style?
I’d say I have a wide variety of style, absolutely depends on the weather (being from Minnesota) and how I’m feeling that day! Some days I may feel more masculine or ’street style' (pair of Jordans, sweats and a hat). To feminine where I want to wear a skirt or dress and 4 inch heels! I feel confident, I will wear it. Most times I don’t think it’s the clothes that I wear it’s how I feel in the clothes that makes the outfit.
Who or what inspires you?
My family, but specifically my sister. She is a photographer and has started her own business and speaks up not only for herself but also others. I’ve enabler seen unclose someone who works harder for what she wants!
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
Humble Confidence is everything! Be open to new experiences, coaching and teachings but bring yourself into everything. Though you may look different on the outside with the hair, makeup and clothes always remember that they chose you because of YOU! You are special and you can WORK! Only best person you can be is you!
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
In college I had two near death experiences (pneumonia and a heat stroke), both during volleyball games! I learned that I was just another body to my coaches and who truly had my back. During these times I learned that the only person who has control over you, is you. If I know something is wrong I will stop, I can push myself but I do know my limits.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
The ability to bring out what makes others truly amazing! Being able to see something in them that makes them so beautiful and unique. Also making them feel special in that exact moment.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
Be kind, be respectful but also be you! You may not be born with confidence, but you can sure learn! Starting with your environment (friends, family, living, etc.) can help a lot! I surround myself with those who not only believe in me, but truly would like to see me succeed! But you need to be the first person who sees themselves succeeding first!
