Tell us about yourself (where you are from, age, whatever you want to add)

I was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, 21 years old, and I am currently a rising senior at Duke University where I study International Comparative Studies and Political Science with a concentration in Africa and Arabia. I also play on the Duke Women Volleyball Team as well. I am the child of Nigerian immigrants.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

My modeling has been quite tumultuous. I have dealt with programs that were not the most honest and just having time to put modeling first has been a challenge. But fortunately through modeling I have been able to meet amazing people. Be that from photographers, to model themselves, casting directors, and everyone involved in the process. And hopefully through Hannah Noelle I can take this dream of mine to new heights.

What is your biggest dream?

I have a few from playing on the Olympic level for volleyball or working for the UN, State Department, or another international entity. I think both of those dreams stem from the dream to represent those who look like me and can relate to my story on the highest level. Be that through sport, career, or even through modeling. That someone can see themselves through me and know that they can also achieve is my biggest dream.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

To be you own kind of beautiful is truly knowing yourself and knowing that you are beautiful and carrying that in all aspects of your life. Not only being yourself but knowing that you are solid through all the adversity that the world throws at us. Because when you truly know yourself and are confident in that the rest come easy.

Who or what inspires you?

My family definitely, with only my parent relocating to America to pursue their dreams and the struggles they went through to give my sister and I a better life. My mom in particular has this inner strength that sometimes awes me to think about and she is my foundation in life. My sister as well always pushes me to be my best and leads by example. I wouldn’t be where I am in life today without her and I am so grateful for her everyday.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I would describe my fashion style as a spectrum. I have the ability to vibe and feel comfortable in almost anything and any style. Be that classy, monotone, professional wear to sci-fi, bright colored, futuristic garb; and everything in between

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

Know your own worth but always stay humble. Not only be confident in what you bring to the table but be open to always learn. This mindset has taken me to many places. Because when you are sure of yourself but know that you are a always a student, always learning, and trying to better your craft you will soon be the best.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

I would say a gift that I am truly grateful for is my ability to connect with anyone. I have been told I know too many people on my campus and that is through no fault of my own I just love talking to people. The best feeling in the world is making someone laugh and seeing them smile if only for a short second. So I try to do that every day and I think that part of my personality makes me beautiful.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

As an athlete I have dealt with some very severe injuries and overcame them. For the past 4 years really I have had serious and multiple  oblique tears due to overuse and bad form. I really started recovering and getting better when I realized that it is ok to take a minute for yourself and truly heal instead of coming back still injured but putting a brave face on. I also realized that I am not alone in my battle and the support system are all around me wanting to help and push me forward to be the best I can and that it is ok to lean on them in times of struggle. Injury humbles you immensely and it honestly changed my perspective not only on volleyball but life. Staying stagnant and doing that same thing that got my injured in the first place kept me in that spiral of injury. When I finally let myself be open to change and growth is when I started healing, becoming a better volleyball player, and person.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Things like confidence cannot be supplied by others. Theses feeling solely come from the self. When you base your confidence on the words of others it will always be a struggle. Until you let go of outside forces and have true confidence in yourself it will always be. Now doing this is not easy and is something that I also deal with daily, but it is not impossible.
