Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
I am 26 years old and I am Mexican. I am an entrepreneur with big dreams and big goals. I am a both a dreamer and a doer. I am a creative that believe the sky is the limit. I am the founder of a nonprofit called One Day and the owner of a Landscaping company in Virginia. It has been such a journey having a business in such a male-dominated field but I am not letting that hold me back! I am an inspiring model with the dream to walk in all the runways.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I started modeling as a way to cope with my insecurities. I thought that having someone taking a picture of me and then editing would make me feel pretty. After a few years, I took a break due to an unhealthy relationship in which I lost myself. I felt so loved by someone who I thought loved my flaws and I loved him over myself due to that. It wasn’t until that heartbreak from him leaving that I was forced to spend time with myself. I worked on myself and I started to truly love myself. I returned to modeling but this time it was not to fix my internal broken pieces but it was a way to express myself. I found myself free behind a camera and it became an art.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to be completely and utterly fulfilled with life doing what I love to do and living my life genuinely happy. To live my life to the fullest and I don't think I will ever have any regrets. Another one of my biggest dreams is to continue to make a difference in people's lives. I define true success as not a monetary value but by making an impact in someone's life. When someone can remember you as someone who made a difference in their life, that's true success in life. I also have my career goals and I am working really hard to have a career that I love and perform my very best every single day.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
There's no true definition of beauty but embracing your own uniqueness and authenticity is what truly makes each one of us beautiful.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I am a random mixture of either glammed up and in workout clothes or in professional clothing. I have a true appreciation for a vintage fashion style but I am not great at styling as I am when I glam up. I love to be in heels.
Who or what inspires you?
My biggest inspiration is and will always be love. Love is the motor and what I think will always make a difference in people's love. It is what motivates me to keep my heart clean and it's what motivates me to keep going because everything I do, I do it with love. It is love because I learned to love myself and reflect love in everything I do. I am a true believer that love starts within and works its way out.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
My biggest advice to someone who is starting is to truly believe in your talent and to stay true to yourself. Being in the industry, you will meet people that are not in the same mindset and vision that you are and you can not let that determines your journey. Never let someone's opinion change how you feel and think of yourself. Set standards for yourself, be authentic and work really hard. Don't let anyone ever turn down your light. Don't doubt yourself or let fear take over, take all the opportunities and give yourself exposure. Don't be scared of "No's" because you will experience doors closing on you but let that be the fuel to find the right door that's open for you. Find your journey and take in what is meant for you, don't dwell on what is not yours. Some doors are meant for you and other doors are meant for other people.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
The biggest obstacle was to stay true to myself. Being a public figure, gives you a lot of pressure to satisfy your viewers and represented. There is pressure to look a certain way that would make myself doubt myself at times. There is a lot of criticism and opinions, some in which can be very hurtful but I have had to learned to brush it off and not let it change who I am. "I am beautiful despite what society has to say. I am who I am and I love it" is a reminder I give myself everyday.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
As cliche as it sounds, my authenticity is what makes me beautiful. Being my own self and embracing my flaws is what makes me beautiful. Beauty is in the soul.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
Start a journey of self love. It all starts there; your confidence, your determination, your will, everything. When you truly love yourself and believe in yourself, incredible things can happen.
