Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

I am from a small country town in Washington state called Sedro-Woolley. It’s a nice town, but I did not feel like I fit in, so I moved to Hawai’I to go to college at the University of Hawaii, Manoa. I am 19 years old and studying as a fashion major.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I have no professional modeling experience, but it is an industry that I have always wanted to be part of.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to be a fashion designer that focuses on body positivity and physical and mental health over societal expectations. I want to create my own brand that uses 100% recycled textiles, ethically sources materials, and treats gives all employees an equal and good opportunity to reach their goals. I want my brand to teach my customers to be fearless, kind, and never be afraid to reach their goals no matter how big they are.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

I think diversity is beauty. I think being your own kind of beautiful is about being unapologetically yourself, being mentally healthy, spreading love everywhere you go and to everyone you encounter. Beauty has very little to do with what you look like on the outside and is almost completely made up of your character.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I love the classic and classy style of Chanel. Clean hems, sharp lines,  put together, fit clothing is something that I absolutely love.

Who or what inspires you?

I am a very driven and tenacious person. In high school and throughout my youth, I wrestled for nine years, so it was always important that I push myself to achieve what I previously thought was impossible. I am motivated to prove myself wrong when I think I can’t do something and to always push myself to go further and be better than I previously was no matter what I’m doing.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

EAT. I used to have an eating disorder and it’s crazy how much nutrition impacts your physical and mental health. Since getting over my eating disorder, I feel like I can really live my life in a way that I genuinely enjoy. It is not uncommon for models to have eating disorders because they want to be skinny, but your health comes before a job 110% of the time.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

Like I previously said, I used to have an eating disorder. This was really hard because I think the majority of the disorder came from my mental health rather than my physical health. This changed me because it made me really focus on my nutrition while I was getting better and now I feel like I have a really good understanding of what I need to nourish my body properly. I was also raised in an abusive household. This impacted every single part of my life and it was really hard to grow up like that. But, in the long run, it made me so much stronger. I know what I deserve and know not to settle for less. I am also able to stand up for myself when I’m being mistreated and I don’t think I would be able to do that if I weren’t raised in the situation that I was in.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

All my friends know me for being a very blunt and honest person. I think this really contributes to being beautiful because I’m an authentic person no matter who I’m around. I do not put on a mask or a front to impress someone. The way I look at it is if I want someone to like me, then I want them to like the person I actually am.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

I would say stop caring so much about what other people think. I know this is hard and this is also something that I struggle with. But, at the end of the day, people are going to like you and people are going to dislike you. You can’t please everyone because everyone has different preferences. So, do what you want. What makes you happy? What makes you a better person? What makes you feel good about yourself on the inside? Once you start asking yourself those questions and really paying attention to the answers, you’ll really see a difference in your mentality about yourself.
