Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
Hello! My name is Hayden and I currently live in Indiana with my two brothers and parents. I have lived in Indiana my entire life but have been fortunate enough to do a lot of traveling with cheerleading and modeling. I am currently in my 7th year with Allstar Cheerleading and am a member of Ice Allstars Gym. I love cheerleading! Another fact about me is I am a type 1 diabetic and was diagnosed in 2016 and have been active in bringing awareness to this disease.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I have been working with various brands for the past two years as an ambassador but I loved being in front of the camera! I have a close friend who is also a model/influencer and her mother is a social media influencer coach, photographer, and content creator. I generally do all of her campaigns and launches and the more I found myself in front of the camera, the more I wanted to keep coming back!
What is your biggest dream?
Ultimately I would love to travel the world and meet people and just have life experiences, whatever those turn out to be! I would love to continue to pursue my modeling career and become more involved with advocacy groups, specifically JDRF and any type of animal rescue group.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
To be your own kind of beautiful means that you are unique, you believe in yourself, and your personality makes you beautiful, not just your physical appearance. People focus so much on physical appearance they often miss the inner beauty we all have. I don’t like it when society tells me what is beautiful. I like to make my own mind up.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Wow this is a tough question! I am absolutely in love with high fashion, runway looks, but you can also find me in bohemian looks, comfortable hoodies and leggings, to classic Audrey Hepburn styles...really eclectic is probably the easiest way to describe my style. If I like it, I am wearing it!
Who or what inspires you?
I think people who aren’t famous and who don’t make the news inspire me. My mom is a clinical mental health therapist and she has always taught me that you never know what someone is going through until you have been in their shoes, and that’s something I truly believe. There are so many amazing people in the world who are hard workers, who have saved someone else by their words or actions alone, those are the people I aspire to be like.
What is your advice to someone who is just started with modeling?
Have fun! Modeling is so much fun and it lets you be you, just a different version, for a while. Also don’t give up! It takes some time to figure out who you are in the modeling world and what works for you, so don’t get frustrated and quit! Give yourself some grace and find a good mentor!
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
One of the first obstacles I have had to overcome is my natural tendency to be quiet and shy. I am super introverted but had to learn not to be in this business. Being on stage for cheer has helped me move past that, as well as modeling. Also having an awesome mentor has helped!
Another area I have had to overcome was my diagnosis of type 1 diabetes roughly five years ago. That was very rough for me. I stood out around other kids and people always looked at me as “that diabetic kid.” I remember going on a field trip where we ate lunch at an Italian restaurant and while my friends all got to sit with other students, I had to sit with the nurse so she could monitor my carbs and determine how much I ate so she could ensure I got the correct amount of insulin. I have had to really work through issues with food and my self image to move past that. I now view my diabetes as a way to keep myself healthy instead of looking at it negatively. I also recognize that other younger kids with diabetes look at me as a role model and that also helps me stay focused and positive.
What makes you beautiful/ handsome?
I would say someone’s personality, kindness, and loyalty are all things that make them beautiful. Physical appearance is okay, but someone can be really ugly on the inside and that makes them appear ugly on the outside too. People who are kind, have a good heart, care about others, and want the world to be a better place are who I believe are beautiful.
What would you say to another guy/ girl your age who is struggling with their confidence?
I totally get you! But one thing I have found is you have to believe in yourself, even if that means faking it til you make it! Ask yourself, who are you allowing to make you feel this way? Is it friends? People you don’t know? Society? Evaluate who you have in your life because people often try to make others feel bad about themselves in order to build themselves up, so there’s a good chance their issues are about them, not you. Own who you are and love it because you only have this one life.
