Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
I am Vanessa Lemoine. I was born in Riverside, California, but I currently live in North Carolina with my family. I am very close to my family and they mean the world to me. I also have the cutest husky ever. Her name is Maya Rose and I adore her. I love to create art. I could paint all day if it were up to me. Painting is so relaxing yet you are creating something so intricate and meaningful. I act as well. It is so much fun. I get to be a whole different person and escape from reality. It is like entering another dimension.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I don’t really have much experience modeling currently but it is something I am really passionate about. I am so eager to learn and grow from this experience. With hard work and dedication I can achieve anything I put my mind to.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to become a model but not just a fashion model but a true role model. I want to be a mirror for people. I want them to see the beauty in themselves. I want them to know that they are loved.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
Being your own kind of beautiful is staying true to yourself and not conforming to the ways of society. Being confident and loving yourself is true beauty.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I wish I could say I have an awesome sense of style but honestly I love baggy, washed out jeans with a simple t-shirt and some converses. As long as you feel confident and beautiful that is all that matters.
Who or what inspires you?
My dad is my hero. He inspires me everyday to grow and become the best version of myself. When I told him I wanted to start modeling he was my biggest cheerleader and was always there to help me along the way. I am so blessed to have such an amazing role model.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
Take in the moment and learn from this experience. We only have one life and we should live it to the fullest. So take chances, work hard, and don’t ever give up to make your dreams a reality.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
When I was about 13 years old we moved from California to a small town in North Carolina. The first year was very hard for me. I experienced racism for the very first time in my life. It affected me in a way I never imagined. I felt alone, sad, and helpless. It took me a while to understand that their ignorance does not define me. I am a powerful Latina woman and they can’t take that away from me.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
I think what makes me beautiful is being kind to one another and always showing compassion.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
I understand how you might be feeling. It is okay not to feel confident all the time. We are human. But you should know that you are perfect just the way you are. The little imperfections that you may dislike is what makes you, you. Learn to love yourself and surround yourself with people who love and encourage you.
