Tell us about yourself.
My name is Joshua Lhila, 30 years old, and a fashion model from Bombay, India.
I wanted to add that I believe, I have a unique look and style. I have a deep, integrated, passion towards modeling and the fashion industry. I also wanted to state that I firmly believe my passion for the industry will allow me to get to the next stage of my career and that one can learn from everyday experiences to be a better model.
Tell us your modeling experience?
I have many years of modeling experience in India, where I have worked for multiple ramp shows and prints.
In New York, I have worked at promotional campaigns for a multitude to name-brand fashion houses including Valentino, and Mont Blanc.
What is your biggest dream?
My dream is two-fold. Firstly, I wish to further my name as a model and as a recognized name in the industry where I appear on the cover of magazines such as Vogue. Secondly, I wish to further my career as an actor and entertain audiences across cinema screens.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
The world is imbued with a vast variety of beautiful shapes and unique colors, both in nature and in human beings. Everything in this infinite universe is an inspiration to me and teaches me the unmitigable beauty that surrounds us.
To appreciate our uniqueness, and not be tied down my norms or preexisting beliefs. That to me is the meaning of “your own kind of beautiful”.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I believe I represent a bold, rugged look that represents that shows the bottled-up energy of people. I have also been told that my facial features tend to be exotic, which may add to the mystery.
Who or what inspires you?
Our industry is lined with stories of aspiring models and actors. However, there are a few that lend a glimmer of hope through their struggles and successes. To that end, I am inspired by names such as Tyra Banks, that appreciated her own unique look and publicly stated that she was “not about to starve” herself. As a designer, Coco Chanel to me is also an inspiration for overcoming her challenges.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
My preeminent advice to newcomers in the industry, is to work on your self-confidence. Trust your instincts in front of the camera, listen to your body language, and facial expressions.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
Self-trust and self-confidence was one of my major obstacles to overcome as I started my modeling and acting career. Therefore, working on these obstacles has shaped my dreams, giving me an energetic motivation to grow in the fashion industry and cinema.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
I believe my long hair and rugged looks make me stand out from the rest. Self-confidence and trustworthy makes me handsome, and unique.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
The modeling world could be a little intimidating. However, you have all it takes to shine! People are waiting to appreciate your look, your body, and everything you bring to the world. Just follow your heart, listen to your body language, and you will achieve anything you choose in life.
