Tell us about yourself

I’ve lived in New York City for all of my 25 years and have fully appreciated all its glory. Though now in my life, I’d like to get to know the rest of my home, the world I mean. If my life were perfect, I’d be traveling the world, helping people in any way while being super fashionable of course, and instilling hope and spirit in others. I have a background in Mental Health Counseling so hang out with me long enough, and you’ll start to believe in yourself. I intend to make my world as perfect as possible, though as we all know we can only control what we can!

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I’ll admit I’ve seen pictures of myself that really didn’t sit well with me - pictures that made think I shouldn’t or couldn’t model. But for some reason I wanted to fight to be better, a feeling I carry in every shoot, I just never stopped doing shoots or asking and saying yes to opportunities for Fashion Week walks or collaborating with other artists. Through all of these experiences, I’ve seen my progression and how much I’ve gotten to know myself as well as my body. Moreover, how much better I can get. Experiencing freedom of expression as a model has helped me transfer bolder qualities to my personality not inherently instilled within me.

What is your biggest dream?

To travel the world, try all the food there ever was, inspire others to help others, spend time with those I love, end generational curses mentally and physical. Steep order? It’s my dream!

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

Beauty is divisible, scattered all around the world. In sunsets and in stars, in water falls and in manmade cathedrals halls; none taking from another. Therein, the world’s people too.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I would stay sophisticated and feminine however being that I have a dance background, I can be sporty and athletic. I love being a chameleon.

Who or what inspires you?

World changers. Mothers - single and with husband. Student studying whole heartedly during finals week. Men showing vulnerability, even reluctantly. Young toddler successfully recognizing all the animals she’s been practicing. Generous donators to noteworthy causes. Founders and supporters of those worthy causes. Those whose father wasn’t there, or who lost a mother beyond compare but carries on, healing slow and succeeding anyhow. I believe creative state and inspiration is in everyone in many forms.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

Get to know your angles by doing many shoots. You are pretty, and so is she. That’s okay. If you like to shoot, just keep doing it. Find good, honest help. Getting professional feedback is important, you can grow so much.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

I’ve definitely had physical and mental health obstacles whether it be from relationships, financial situations, accidents and surgeries that were unplanned (3 actually), being raised in a Bengali Muslim household where anything related to modeling/music/dance was forbidden, or even my personal lack of selfworth. These struggles to name a few, have taught me that I have free will. That I can create my life exactly the way I want by recognizing myself and my relation to everything external to me. They all also taught me to be grateful for everything I have and to stop worrying because negative will happen regardless!

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

Because my heart wants you to be happy always, that is why I’m beautiful. I think sometimes I’m handsome too.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

You are a human on planet earth – there’s nothing to be confident about. You’re already doing what you’re supposed to be doing – being human! That’s really it but… fine, I’ll give you something else: define your own standards of what kind of person you want to be and how you want to look, decide you are beautiful because you were created, (as if the world really need another human? Yes, it did. That’s why you’re here. You didn’t press a button and end up here, did you? Something brought you here so you deserve to be here), let others do that for themselves and then respect one another. This is a world we wouldn’t need confidence. We could just be. Not usually how it works so - just be, then walk in that spirit.
