Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
My name is Khalil Abu-Rish, I’m originally Mediterranean and I currently reside in VA. I am a semi-pro footballer for Cessena FC and I also play casually in adult leagues. I’ve played soccer my whole life and my main position is Goalkeeper. One thing about me is I love and appreciate seeing new faces. I love meeting people and getting to know their stories and how they have lived. Additionally, I live knowing that you only have one shot at this and you can never waste a second. Everything happens for a reason and if you keep good spirits you’ll always find the best in every situation.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
In all honesty I haven't been modeling for very long. I would say I am relatively new to modeling, but it’s always been something in the back of my mind. Recently I had my first professional photoshoot and it was so cool to just see how spontaneous these photoshoots can really be. Doing my first shoot was almost a reflection of life in the way that the best moments from this particular shoot were the ones that came naturally.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream at the moment is to really just make it big and be able to get a platform for myself so others can see me and hear my advice. I love helping others and I believe if I got the opportunity to just speak my mind and let people know my opinions and advice I would really be making a positive impact on this world. I want to leave Earth one day knowing I left an impression on people, especially a positive one. Also, if I were to gain success in life I would be able to hopefully take care of my immediate family and also give new chances to my family who still live outside the United States.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
Being Beautiful is not all about appearance, to me being your own kind of beautiful is about being you. The way you carry yourself, the way you interact with others, your personality, and your intelligence. When I say intelligence, I don’t mean whether you got a degree or if you didn’t, but what I’m referring to is the way in which you look at the world and if you have the ability to be life smart. At the end of the day everyone can and will have their own opinions on topics and real world issues, but it’s about respecting those beliefs just as you would like someone to respect yours. Truly comprehending that everyone is living their own life and you need to live yours. That is beauty.
How would you describe your fashion style?
If I could describe my fashion I would say it is kind of old school. Growing up I watched a whole lot of movies from the 80s, so my style still has some nods to that. I love all colors and wearing them. Furthermore, I would never turn down the chance to dress up super fancy and look like I’m straight out of The Godfather. My day to day outfits are just casual and some designer.
Who or what inspires you?
The biggest inspirations in my life so far have been my parents and grandparents. I have looked up to them for as long as I can remember. Just as they have given me and my family so many great things I want to be able to pass that on to my family in the future.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
Confidence is key. In modeling the number one thing is confidence. Not only do you have to showcase confidence in each photo, but confidence also entails being social and meeting photographers and other models.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
The biggest obstacle in my life so far would probably be the passing of my grandpa. He was the man I was named after and the best person I have ever met. It was just a given that he was my grandpa by blood, but he was my best friend by choice. After he passed I almost felt a bit lost, but overcoming that and understanding that he will be with me every step of the way is what keeps me going.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
I believe I’m handsome because of my ability to make anyone around me feel welcome and comfortable. Obviously I have nice blue eyes and dark features as well, but looks are not everything in terms of beauty.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
I would just tell them that there is nothing to be afraid or ashamed of. People will always appreciate you for who you are. Be confident in yourself because people just want to see something natural. Also I have never met someone who was genuinely mean we are all on this planet for the same reasons and you won’t understand other people until you really get out there and discover it.
