Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add).
“darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” -Martin Luther King Jr. This quote plays an important part in every decision and choice I make on an every day basis. I believe in being kind, and spreading positivity even when it may seem impossible. Being from a small town in Texas, and since relocating to Boca Raton Florida, I have learned that no matter where you go, everybody needs somebody to be kind, for you never know what people are going through.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
Ever since I was 12, I have dreamed of becoming a model, and have worked so hard to be where I am today. I’ve modeled for multiple clothing brands, evening gown boutiques and stores, different photographers trying to get a jump start, and my precious college institution, I am so beyond thankful to have the opportunity to grow my experience and continue to learn.
What is your biggest dream?
Oh goodness, so many dreams I have! The biggest ones I have always had, is to become a full time model, inspiring people to chase after their dreams no matter what thoughts by others surround you. Coming from a small town, unfortunately, people didn’t always uplift my dreams, but instead surrounded them with doubt, and harsh words. By growing through these and continuing to chase after my dream, I hope one day I am able to instill confidence in others, that they can do whatever they set their mind to.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
To be your own kind of beautiful, is to embrace the unique qualities God gave you, for you are perfectly made. To never compare yourself to others because you are good enough just the way you are and always have been! To live without standards others have set, and love the way you are without comparison. To love what you love, who you love, and yourself without any hesitation. To be your own kind of beautiful, is to know that we are imperfectly perfect, yet, still embrace who you are one thousand percent.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My style is very versatile! It can vary from New York chic, to cute and comfy! Most days you will catch me in neutral colors, such as blacks, tans, whites, and occasionally different prints! Meanwhile my other side can be anything with sweatpants, a cute crop, with my hair in a claw!
Who or what inspires you?
Hannah brown inspires me.
Yes, hannah brown, the former bachelorette! This may sound a bit funny, but watching Hannah browns story as an outsider was so inspiring. No matter what she was faced with, she never lost sight of who she was and what she stood for. She found happiness in being herself, and overcame her own mistakes in a genuine and mature manner. Coming from pageants myself, so many times we are expected to fit a certain stereotype, and to see her step out of the normalcies surrounding women as a whole made me realize that no matter what, being confidently you, and trusting what God has in store for you will always work out just the way it’s supposed to.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
My advice to somebody just getting started with modeling, is to trust yourself. To continue to chase after what you want no matter what people say, to know that you are beautiful! You are good enough! To remember that in the modeling industry, all it takes it one yes, and to strive for that even when it seems impossible, never give up! Embrace your flaws, because in reality, our flaws are what makes us beautiful.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
Growing up and into my teenage years, I struggled with self worth. With thoughts surrounding my mind as to why I wasn’t good enough. This came from the absence of a parent, and the obstacles because of that parent I had to overcome before the absence happened. I have faced seeing the damage that drug and alcohol abuse can do to a family, and much more. Although I had to face these things growing up, I soon realized how thankful and blessed I was with the family and people surrounding me, and to be always be grateful for what I have, rather than what I do not. Because of this change of perspective, my confidence began to instill in myself once again, I chose to strive to be kind, even to those that make it the hardest, to love and appreciate the things around me, and to strive for what I wanted, because I was and am good enough, and so are you!
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
To me, personally, beauty comes from the inside. I have always believed that no matter your looks on the outside, to be just as beautiful on the inside, is how beautiful you will be on the outside. Who you are at your heart, will always matter the most.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
The realization of knowing you are good enough just the way you are is so important. Instead of picking out what you believe are flaws, tell yourself something you love about yourself. To see yourself through the eyes of God, as he hand made each and everyone of us perfectly. To remember that you are strong enough to overcome this struggle, and no matter what, you are good enough to achieve your biggest dreams.
