Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

It’s a pleasure to meet you all. My name is Jessica but everyone calls me Jess. I’m 35 years old and a mother to a beautiful, smart 5 year old little girl. I was born and raised in Connecticut. Joined the Army at 20 years old as a paralegal for 6 years. When I got out in 2011, I became a Licensed Practical Nurse and I’ve been a nurse ever since.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I’ve always loved having my photo taken. I believe in capturing every part of a persons growth through life. I first got into modeling when I was stationed in Japan back in 2006 for an urban magazine. When I got back to the states I did a few fashion shows for Once Upon Child and other charities.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream would be to have my book “A Love I Never Knew” to be a #1 seller and to walk in New York Fashion Week for Versace and Balmain.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

I think being your own kind of beautiful is embracing your flaws and loving who you are not what you look like.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I would describe my fashion style as Tom boyish with a little bit of class. I like to feel comfortable but sexy at the same time. I like to look natural and feel beautiful in my own skin.

Who or what inspires you?

The story of Jesus, Job, and the woman by the well in the Bible inspire me the most. I have learned not to care what people think because people will talk about you regardless whether good or bad. You can have it all and it all be taken away within the blink of an eye but the blessing in itself is your faith to not give up. Lastly your past doesn’t define you because everyone has one and no one is perfect. What matters is how you grow and become a better person today than your yesterday.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

Be yourself. Be comfortable with who you are. Never quit. Be able to take criticism whether bad or good because you can learn from everything.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

I had very low self esteem and very bad acne. I used to think I was too skinny and not pretty enough. I had a phobia of getting fat and not eating enough to the point to as bad as I wanted to eat I would gag and cringe. It was definitely a lot of prayer for strength and self love and confidence as well as mind over matter.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

I think that what makes me beautiful is that I am who I am. I accept my beauty and embrace my flaws. Having the ability in my heart to look past what the eye can not is beauty within itself.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Embrace your age and who you are. Age is only a number, it’s how you feel and who you are that define you. Don’t let stress and self doubt steal your beauty.
