Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

I am originally from Cut N’ Shoot, Texas but I was raised in Centerville, Texas and I now reside in College Station, Texas where I attend Texas A&M University as a Neuroscience major. I am the first in my family to pursue a modeling career, and I have dreams to one day own my own fashion line. I am an athlete and love to spend my free time training and boxing.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

Since I have started modeling, I have had the opportunity to work with many different models and photographers, each person I have met along the way has played an essential role in helping me to pursue my dreams of modeling. I remember my first gig was for a photographer in my small town who needed senior models for her photography service. She inspired me to keep pursuing my dream, and she showed me that it is possible to achieve your dreams no matter where you come from. Rejection is faced daily in this industry, but the passion I have for my dream pushes me forward.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is simple, to live a happy life with no regrets. I want to build a life for myself that I do not need a vacation from and I live each day in complete happiness and serenity. I want to build a life for myself that brings me nothing but joy and happiness.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

Being your own kind of beautiful means to truly embrace yourself, and who you are.  Our flaws and imperfections are not harmful and shameful, however, they are the exact things that make us unique and beautiful in our own ways. Embracing “flaws” is what makes each person beautiful in their own way.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I see clothing as a way to express ourselves. I never like to fit in with my clothing or wear something because it is the newest fast fashion trend, but instead, I love to take a piece of clothing and challenge myself to build an outfit from it that expresses who I am as a person. My entire wardrobe is composed of black and reds, and those are the main two colors I focus each outfit around.

Who or what inspires you?

The haters, or as I like to call them, the challengers. People put others down when they do not understand someone or they are intimidated by them. The way I see it, if someone is hating on my dreams or goals, then my dreams are either too big for them to understand, or they fear the potential I have. Either way, their hateful remarks or comments push me to reach for the next level.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

Rejection is just as essential as success. Rejection is not a permanent no, but instead, a “work harder, and let’s try it again,”. Take every opportunity to meet new people in the same industry as you and to make genuine connections with people. Lastly, always remember that integrity is everything. Be kind to everyone, no matter how much success you get, no one likes to be around someone who is rude or arrogant. It cost nothing to be kind.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

Confidence was not a natural gift for me. I was bullied all throughout elementary school and middle school for my looks, I was given the names “Dumbo” and “giraffe,” I looked in the mirror and started to think I looked like a zoo animal. It took me years to learn that my flaws are not imperfections, but are the exact things that make me who I am. I learned to embrace my differences, and that is when I truly started to see myself as the person I was meant to be.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

I never looked in the mirror and saw myself as a “beautiful” person. It was noticing that everyone around me has insecurities as well, which made me learn no one is perfect. I started to embrace my insecurities, and the insecurities soon became my confidence points. I learned that each flaw a person possesses is what makes them unique and beautiful. The world is full of copycats, the last thing I would want to do is not embrace what makes me different.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

It starts within. I know it sounds cliche, but it truly does. Practice self-affirmations each morning, meditation, even reading self-care books, and taking self-care days. Also do not let how others perceive you, become the way you perceive yourself.
