Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
I was born & raised in Dubai. I lived in India during high school. I am 24 & majored in Biology with a minor in Public Health. Since I was 13, I loved modeling & fashion. But before I could start w/ modeling. I had to complete my bachelor's. I feel like I was born to be a model.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I modeled with the University of Minnesota for the past 5 years. Walked for Sister Boutique & St.Kate University. Worked with local & international photographers.
What is your biggest dream?
Become a well-known hijabi model and to inspire women that look like me.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
According to me, beauty is individuality, beauty is diversity, beauty is being yourself, beauty is confidence and beauty is embracing your body.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I am into couture. So my style is unique, expressive & colorful.
Who or what inspires you?
My biggest inspiration is Naomi Campbell. I just love how she carries herself especially when she walks down the runway.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
That if you are passionate about modeling you need to have patience. Because it takes time for a model to be discovered by agencies and photographers.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
I failed one class in college due to losing a loved one. Dealing with failure was not easy, especially when it was my first time. I lost hope and wanted to give up on schooling because I thought I failed my parents. But then I had a class where we had a guest speaker who was a doctor and he told us that he failed 5 times in physics. But still, he became a physician because he didn't give up and worked hard to keep on trying. I remember him telling us that if we are passionate about something and if we fail we can't give up and to keep on trying you will get through it. That failure made me realize to work hard so I retook that class and got an "A".
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
What makes me beautiful is saying to myself that I am beautiful. I also love helping my friends look beautiful and make them feel confident within themselves. Basically- empowering women.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
I always think about people who are less fortunate but still feel confident & happy. I think it's important to be grateful and thankful. And if you want to boost your confidence a little by coloring your hair, go for this. I think it's important to look in the mirror and think of people who are less fortunate and to love yourself.
