My name is Amulya C. I’m 17 years old and live in Irvine, CA.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
- I’ve done a few modeling jobs with designers such as Masaki Matsuka. A lot of my modeling skills come from the beauty pageant industry. I’ve competed in numerous pageants and held the title of Miss Beverly Hills Teen 2020.
What is your biggest dream?
- it’s been my lifelong dream to go to law school and become an attorney. I’m planning on double majoring in political science and business administration in college so that I can work towards this dream of mine.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
-I truly believe that being your own kind of beautiful means to embrace who you are without trying to be like anyone else. It’s about loving yourself just the way you are. Everyone is different and stunning in their own way. It’s all about loving the skin that you’re in.
How would you describe your fashion style?
-I would describe my fashion style as very versatile. On some days I put on a t-shirt and jeans while on others days I enjoy wearing a dress and heals. I love to try on new things and experiment with different styles. It all comes down to whatever makes me feel the most confident.
Who or what inspires you?
-my mother is my biggest inspiration and one of the strongest women I know. She grew up in a small village in India and came to the United States as a hopeful immigrant with belief in the American dream. Despite the fact that she had little formal education, she worked hard to learn English and find a job. In the past 20 years that she’s spent in the USA, she was able to work for numerous prestigious companies as an IT professional and stands an independent woman. She has inspired me to always stand on my own feet and be in charge of my own destiny.
What have been your greatest accomplishments?
-I am an ambassador for the Wounded Warrior Project Organization and have been working towards raising funds for our American veterans. One of my biggest achievements is being able to start a chapter of this organization at my high school and raise thousands of dollars for veterans in my community.
Do you have any talents?
-I would say that my biggest talent and special gift is public speaking. This is one of the reasons why I want to be a lawyer.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
-one of the biggest challenges I have been able to overcome is the constant fear of failure and self doubt. I have stepped back from chasing after my dreams in the past because I thought I may not be able to do it. This constant self doubt was really draining. But over the years I’ve learned to believe in myself and take risks. I’m still continuing to develop more belief in myself.
What makes you beautiful?
-I believe that beauty comes from the heart. It lies in how you treat other people. In my opinion, what makes me beautiful is the charitable work I do for others in my community. Having a wonderful soul makes you appear even more beautiful. In addition, it’s also about knowing that you are enough. Be confident and love yourself from within.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
-we’ve all been there. We all struggle when it comes to self confidence so you’re not alone. But we need to value and love who we are. We all have unique qualities to offer to this world. Take a moment to reflect on how far you’ve come and look forward to all of the amazing things coming your way. You are beautiful just the way you are.
