Tell us about yourself
- My name is Nikki Roxette, I am 23 years old and I was born in the Philippines. When I was 8, I moved to California with my grandparents. I am currently attending a university as a Performing Arts major. I love cinematography, theatre, anything about film production, photography, count me in! I am also very into fashion and music as well.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
- I don't have any modeling experience, although modeling has been one of my dreams and has been sitting in the back of my mind. I've always been into it, but have felt discouraged in the past because of my height, but over the years, I have gained so much confidence and I am thankful especially to God for blessing me and giving me this opportunity.
What is your biggest dream?
- My biggest dream is to work in the film industry and to model for my favorite brands and own a clothing line/company. I would also love to travel the world one day.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
- I think to be your own kind of beautiful is to simply embrace who and what you are. Accepting all of your flaws/imperfections and not changing who you are. God created all of us in a very different way and I think that's what makes each and everyone of us unique and beautiful.
How would you describe your fashion style?
- I'd say my fashion style is very street style, edgy with a hint of boho.
Who or what inspires you?
- My grandmother inspires me the most because she is such a strong and a very hard working woman who is also brave and kind. Another person would be my mom because she still manages to stay strong and keep her head up despite all of the hardships she went through in life.
What have been your greatest accomplishments?
- I don't think I have reached my greatest accomplishments yet. Thus far, I am working towards them and I know one day, I will achieve my dreams through perseverance, courage and having faith in God of course.
Do you have any special talents?
- I can play guitar, a little bit of piano and ukulele. I can speak two languages. I can also shoot and edit videos/cinematic films.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
- When I was younger, I struggled with my confidence. I was also verbally bullied so that got me thinking negatively about my appearance and compared myself to other girls my age. I didn't love myself well enough and I kept bringing myself down. It took me awhile to become confident. My low self esteem held me back from a lot of great opportunities in the past... but I realized that I shouldn't treat myself this way. I've managed to overcome that and I have faced many challenges in my life that made me believe in myself and most importantly, to love myself more.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
- I do believe that, what makes a person beautiful starts from within. I think that my heart and soul makes me beautiful. I am very kind, caring, loving and sympathetic toward others. I like to make people smile, laugh and I am a very understanding person.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
- My biggest advice would be is to never listen to what others are saying about you, especially those who keeps bringing you down. Believe in yourself and what you are capable of. Love yourself enough to never seek validation from others. Embrace your natural features and your flaws. Nobody is perfect in this world, we are all different in our own special way.
