Tell us about yourself.
Hi, my name is Jia. I was born in Mainland China and moved to the US when I was 3. Since then, I’ve been traveling between the two countries. I’ve always been a little uncomfortable in front of cameras. But decided to get over this fear in 2019 and started getting into modeling. Since then, I slowly became more comfortable and learned that being a model is more than just a pretty face. It is more than what others sees, practice and trainings that you need to put in work for behind the scenes. I would describe it as a duck, it looks calm above the water but under the water it’s paddling hard.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to be able to walk for fashion week from all over, to work with different designers all over the world and see their visions alive through their art pieces. To be able to walk in their show and showcase their art makes me very happy just to be a part of it.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
To be your own kind of beautiful is to fall in love with yourself, put yourself first and embrace every flaw of
yourself is my kind of beautiful. It may sound cliche but it is something one needs to understand and learned to do.
How would you describe your fashion style?
To describe my fashion style I always go for simple and chic, however, it changes from time to time depending on my mood for that day.
Who or what inspires you?
I would say my mother inspire me the most or should I say influence. Her love for clothes, beauty and fashion influenced me at a young age to love and appreciate it in an art form.
Do you have any special talents?
As for Talents, they are things my mother forced me into as a little girl but now i enjoy as an adult. I play the Piano and Violin with the dream of once being able to play on the biggest stage in the world as a little girl (it was really my mother’s dream). I also swam and played tennis competitively both in College and in High School because I figured it was a good workout. I still hate swimming and I am a backstroker. I am fluent in three languages- Cantonese, Mandarin, English and an upcoming language being Spanish. I do pole dancing with backgrounds in gymnastics and ballet.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
The biggest obstacle that I have to overcome in my life was losing the most important person in my life at a young age and understand that it is a cruel world.
What makes you beautiful?
I’m beautiful because of who I am inside. Everybody that knows me knows I can give it my all for someone I care about or the least. It’s one way of the other. I will forever have love for those in my life, they have taught me lessons i needed to learn, been there with me through up and downs and whether they may be in the past or now; if they need me I will always be there for them.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
To the guy/girl reading this struggling with confidence, the best advice I can give you is to love yourself first. Love yourself, embrace your own flaws and to be okay with being by yourself. This is truly the most important thing for self-love and with that confidence comes along.
