Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

I am Genavive Rutter! I'm 18, I'm from Las Vegas, and I enjoy most everything that is right brain fueled.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

To be quite frank, I'm pretty new to modeling other than just doing it for fun! I was always into acting and performing though so naturally I thought I should dip my toes in the water and give this a go!

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to be genuinely happy and make my living through my creative outlets, whether that is through acting, modeling, writing, fashion, or all the above!

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

I suppose this is a journey within yourself, to me it means loving who you are at every stage of the day. As well of every stage of your life. That's an incredibly difficult thing to do, but I think being your own kind of beautiful is all about taking those steps to love yourself.

How would you describe your fashion style?

This is incredibly difficult because I don't really have one set aesthetic! I would say it is heavily influenced by american styles in the 70s/80s, but I also take a lot of inspo from 90s Japan street style. I love to mix patterns and pieces, and just create interesting silhouettes I haven't tried before.

Who or what inspires you?

My dad inspires me endlessly. He's a creative that never seems to stop, and at the end of the day that is all I hope to be in this life.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

I suppose it's the same advice you get when you're starting anything new! I mean I'm very new to all this, but nonetheless I would say nothing is easy in the beginning. So work on yourself and work on your craft. Use others as motivation and direction, but never compare yourself. We all do life at different paces and we all achieve success at different times in different ways. Your time will come.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

When you are heavily invested in your artistic ventures, you're going to get rejected much more than accepted. Everyone knows that, but I would say every rejection was genuinely redirection. It gave me thicker skin, and a new found motivation.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

I think with everyone, their soul makes them beautiful first. That is so unbelievably, and aggressively cheesy but I believe it to be true. Someone could physically be the most beautiful person in the world but instantly be ugly if their heart is ugly.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Get off the internet for a while.  Growing up in the age of the world wide web was detrimental to many of our self images, because you are constantly bombarded with photos and visuals of unrealistic beauty standards. This makes you start comparing yourself, and nit pick all the things you are not. Take some time unplugged with yourself, find the things you genuinely do adore about yourself. Confidence starts from the soul, take care of yourself first. I promise with time you will get there.
