Tell us about yourself

Hi loves,

my name is Camila R. I am 18 years old. I am from Colombia. I moved to Los Angeles in 2011. My story starts back in my home town, when I was 2 years old. In an accident 70% of my body was burned. I have had 11 surgeries done all together . Half of my head was burned, my hair along with it. By a miracle God grew my hair when I was laying in a hospital bed about to go into my biggest surgery of all. My reconstructive head surgery. It is a miracle that I am even alive today. Even though, I have visible permanent scars. What happened to me is what has made me the confident, passionate, ambitious and faithful woman I am today. I thank God everyday for the miracle of having head full of hair and a healthy body.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to be an inspiration. To be a beam of light at the end of the tunnel for people that are struggling with their happiness, confidence or faith.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

I believe that beauty is about embracing your imperfections. Weather that is internal, physical or mental. Each individual has their own unique path and story which is what makes a person special. Feeling beautiful should not be defined by others opinions. Physical beauty dies off, what matter is your inner beauty which is renewed day by day.

“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth of God” - 1 Peter 3-4

Tell us about your modeling experience.

My modeling career has recently taking off. I want to use modeling as a platform to inspire other girls and guys to feel confident no matter their appearance. In a way to tell my story and the wonders that God can do in your life. I have been in small fashion shows and photoshoots.

What is your dream brand to model for?

My dream brand to model for is Victoria Secret. I have always wondered what it would be like to see a model there that doesn’t have “perfect” skin.

How would you describe your fashion style?

My everyday look consist of leggings a big T -shirt or sweater and NMD’s. Sometimes I like to dress really girly but most of the time I would sayI am pretty laid back and don’t like to dress up. I love to be super comfortable at all times.

How important is self-awareness and confidence to you in your everyday life?

Self awareness to me is recognizing that what you I see in social media or my surrounds is not a realistic approach to have in life. I don’t think obsessing over other people’s life will help me in my personal growth. Being confident in myself with who I am as a person and who I aspire to be will help me in personal growth.

What makes you beautiful?

What makes me beautiful is my personality, my scars, my character and what I hold in my heart.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence

I would to have confidence means to learn how to love yourself first. Knowing yourself worth has a lot to do with your confidence. No matter how you look. The people that love you the most and actually genuinely care about you will stay by your side no matter what. Strangers opinions shouldn’t define how you see yourself. Untimely, the most important thing is how you feel with yourself, the actions you take and the imagine you give to others matters only if you feel comfortable with it.
