Tell us about yourself

- My name is Dhriti Rathod, and I am from Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. I recently moved to New York for college, and I am 17 years old. I am looking forward to majoring in Chemistry and starting my journey as a model! I love to dance, play volleyball, and paint in my free time as well.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

- I officially started my modeling journey when I was a sophomore in high school. I attended a competition in summer of 2021, and I won an honorable mention award for my runway walk in my division. Shortly after, I walked in NYFW in February 2022 for Coastal Models. I have also modeled for bridal shoots in India to grow my portfolio.

What is your biggest dream?

- My biggest dream is making a big enough difference in the world to leave my imprint forever. I want to live for myself, but dedicate my talents to the betterment of others.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

- Learning to love myself means being my own kind of beautiful. I truly believe that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder, and for that, it is important to love yourself because you are your most important beholder.

How would you describe your fashion style?

- My fashion style definitely represents that of the classic "business casual." I love incorporating office wear into my everyday outfits. I also enjoy wearing outfits that correlate to streetwear, as this matches one of many aesthetics in New York.

Who or what inspires you?

- My parents inspire me. Everything I have learned comes from their struggles. Their kind, encouraging words never fail to fuel my motivation. I have always aimed to live up to their successes and make them proud.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

- I would advise those who are getting started in modeling to learn to love themselves. That is the most important part of this career. Unless models love themselves, they will permanently subject themselves to insecurities.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

- The most prominent obstacle I have overcome is my jealousy. I often found myself comparing myself to others who are more talented than me in certain areas. The feelings of overwhelming envy started to affect my everyday performance and personality as well. However, after learning to love myself and starting to work harder, I overcame these feelings. Now, I encourage others to do the same. Not only has this made me stronger, it has encouraged me to spread my experiences and help others.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

- As I had said previously, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. In my own eyes, I consider myself beautiful. Moreover, I try to make sure that my personality also reflects the most genuine kindness I can offer, and this contributes to my beauty.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

- I would tell them to try to find ways to love themselves. I would encourage them to assess themselves based on what they love about themselves, not what others think about them. Everyone is beautiful, but beauty starts from within. More than anything, I would help them love themselves.
