Tell us about yourself :
I’m from Long Island, NY and am 24 years old. My nationality is Liberian - Sierra Leonean American. I am the first: generation of my family, and I love that I'm able to be a part of such a diverse culture. My hobbies include writing, fitness, and content creation.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
My modeling journey officially started about 2 years ago when I did a photoshoot with a Miami based fashion photographer. I connected with her through tik tok, and was fascinated by how much her photography style aligned with my own creative ventures for the brand I hoped to build. I wanted to do something that emulated feminine power and strength. The photographer was able to bring that vision to life in the photoshoot, and that moment impacted me in showing me that it was possible to bring a storytelling aspect to modeling. I’ve since had the privilege of connecting with many amazing people, productions, photographers, and models as a freelance model. I’ve also participated in NYFW, which was a great experience that was a major inspiration.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to be a role model for young girls and women. I’d love to be able to empower them, and help them to see that we’re not defined by our circumstances or the world. I want my work to reflect that the possibilities are endless for whatever you wish to pursue in life. We live in a world that constantly wants to silence women, whether it be through our voice, how we choose to dress, or what values we have, but I want to be a part of the change and amplify our voices.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
To be your own kind of beautiful is to recognize that true beauty emanates from within as cliche as it is. Beauty is the emblem of our spirit, and I believe that it is an energy that has the ability to come out through us and into the world. Our differences make us beautiful.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style has always been very feminine, trendy, and chic. I have adopted a more bold and edgier fashion sense over the years. I love to push things a bit and play around with fun unique pieces and style arrangements that are unexpected.
Who or what inspires you?
As a Christian I am inspired by my faith in God that motivates me to keep going regardless of the obstacles, and my faith reminds me of my strength.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
My advice to someone just getting started with modeling is to be fearless in the pursuit of your dreams once you’ve established that modeling is definitely what you want to do. Simply put one foot in front of the other, and begin to make moves towards that goal even if they’re small. The most important thing is to never give up.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
Coming as a first generation had many challenges. I often had to move a lot, and dealt with not always fitting in. It taught me the value of accepting myself regardless of the circumstance because I learned that once you accept yourself you’re unstoppable.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
What makes me beautiful is my mindset. I've always known what I wanted out of life since I was very young, and I admire that most about myself.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
I would say that confidence is something that is built over time, and I would urge them to not be so hard on themselves because we all go through it. It’s about finding yourself and learning to accept yourself which is a lifelong journey, so it’s very important that we are patient with ourselves.
