Tell us about yourself

- My name is Karina D, I am 20 years old. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and I moved to Richmond, Va in April of 2017. I describe myself as an outgoing person, it’s easy for me to make friends anywhere. I love spending time with my loved ones and I also enjoy being by myself and do things that I love.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

- I participated in a runway back in 2018 with a small store that had just launched their new collection of clothes. I have also done collaborations such as beauty/ face modeling and one photo shoot for a creator of content in social media from my hometown.

What is your biggest dream?

- My biggest dream is being a successful woman, achieving all my personal and professional goals.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

- To me it means to shine in your own way,

without trying to copy/pretend somebody you’re not. When you shine in your own way, you do things that you like even if nobody likes it and that’s how you’re making a positive difference in this industry.

How would you describe your fashion style?

- I can do both, Streetwear and also soft girl.

Who or what inspires you?

-Thinking about my future inspires me. Having the thought of being a successful, independent woman gives me motivation to keep working to have the life I want.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

- Don’t be scared to try. There are doors that will close for you, so you can open others. Whatever it’s meant to be, it’ll be. Don’t be scared to ask, contact people, just follow your dreams and think about how much you’ve been wanting this.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

- Definitely the transition when I moved to the United States was the hardest thing I’ve overcome so far. The language barrier was the main obstacle for me since I didn’t speak English at all, I started from scratch with my family, but now I look back and see everything that I’ve done in these 5 years and I’m so proud of myself because nowadays I can say that I am bilingual and I’m currently following all my dreams.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

- More than my physical appearance, what I believe it makes me beautiful is the way I am, my personality and the way I treat and care for others.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

- There’s always going to be someone trying to let you down, but you have to always remember and believe that you’re more than that. You are beautiful the way you are no matter what other people say, we all different in our own way so if you’re start believing in yourself you’ll realize that that’s all you need, no more.
