Tell us about yourself:
My name is Grace De Jesus and I am a 25 year old model based in NYC. I was born and raised in The Dominican Republic and moved to Miami with my family when I was 11. I love anything fashion and music related. I love reading romance books and going for long walks around my neighborhood. I tend to be a bit shy at first but I love meeting new people and making friends. I am also a Capricorn for those who celebrate!
Tell us about your modeling experience:
I have been modeling for a few years now. In college, I modeled for fashion magazines and local boutiques. I have runway experience and catalog/print modeling.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to give my family the life they have worked so hard for me to have. I want to accomplish my goals and make them proud. Ultimately, to achieve The American Dream.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
To be your own kind of beautiful means to be yourself. It means to accept and be kind to yourself during all phases of you because you understand that you are the source.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style would be a mix of street wear and a bit of preppy. Even though my priority is comfort, I like a look that can be versatile.
Who or what inspires you?
I am inspired by joy. I am constantly trying to find the good in all things and people. I like to be around people that are joyful and spaces that allow for that. I am also inspired to be the person that lights up a room and makes everyone light up with them.
What are some obstacles you have overcome?
I encountered an obstacle when I first moved to the U.S and did not know the language. It took me a few years to learn English and that was frustrating at such a young age. Classmates were not always the most understanding and would sometimes makes fun of me. Eventually, I mastered the language and could fully express myself. It taught me to be more patient and understanding so i'm grateful for the experience.
What makes you beautiful?
Physically, what makes me beautiful I would say is my darker complexion and my lips. However, what I think makes me truly beautiful is how funny I am.
What would you say to someone who is struggling with their confidence?
We all struggle with our confidence sometimes. As cliché as it sounds, a flower truly does not bloom all year long and you are not expected to either. I would say be more accepting of who others are and in return you will be more accepting of who you are. Do things that bring you joy. Take care of yourself in ways that feel good to you and not others. Remember that there is only one of you for a reason!
