Tell us about yourself My name is Soffia S. and I am a 22-year-old model originally from the Berkshires, Massachusetts. I recently graduated from Williams College, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology. I am now working in biotechnology in Boston, MA. I was a serious ballet dancer for 18 years, studying with the Albany Berkshire Ballet, Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Joffrey Ballet, and the American Academy of Ballet. Dance will always be a huge part of my life, and even though I no longer dance with a company, I believe the skills I’ve developed as a dancer translate extremely well to modeling. Choreography and expression are paramount in dance, paralleling the importance of effective posing and emotional conveyance in modeling. I trust that modeling will allow me to continue developing skills like collaborating with teams, and adapting to different styles and settings.

Tell us about your modeling experience: I just began modeling after graduating from college, and am so excited about new opportunities and my potential for growth! I have collaborated with a diverse array of skilled photographers, which has not only contributed to the promotion of their artistic endeavors but also helped me develop my own portfolio. So far I have shot athletic, dance, fitness, glamor, and street looks, and look forward to exploring many other styles and aesthetics.

What is your biggest dream?: My biggest dream is to be happy and healthy with a loving family and community of friends. I have also always been passionate about health and wellness, and dream about starting a company that promotes a holistic approach to health--one that addresses not only physical fitness but also mental and emotional well-being.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?: To me, being your own kind of beautiful means remaining true to your authentic self and not letting anyone influence that. I believe the most beautiful people radiate happiness and positivity from within.

How would you describe your fashion style?: I would describe my fashion style as minimalist, classy, and elegant. I usually wear clothing characterized by neutral colors, clean lines, simplicity, refined aesthetics, and with a focus on timeless pieces. I like to keep my hair and makeup understated, with an emphasis on enhancing my natural features.

Who or what inspires you?: Without a doubt, my family inspires me the most. The unwavering support, diverse strengths, and shared achievements of my family creates a constant source of motivation in my life. Their individual journeys, resilience, and collective love fuel my determination, shape the person I am, and encourage me to pursue my goals.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?: Although I only just started modeling myself, my advice would be to first thoroughly research the industry, identify your individual look, and invest in developing your portfolio. Stay committed to continuous improvement through workshops and networking, as establishing connections can open doors to opportunities and insights into the industry. No matter what, prioritize your health and well-being, and be patient when you face challenges. Know your limits, be persistent, and remain enthusiastic about potential for growth!

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?: I would remind them that they're not alone–everyone faces moments of self-doubt! Confidence comes from within, and the key is to embrace your uniqueness and focus on what makes you feel good about yourself. It’s so important to surround yourself with positive influences, and to seek support from friends and family members who uplift you. Always be kind to yourself, try to challenge negative thoughts, and believe in your own worth.
