Tell us about yourself:

My name is Eryn, I am 18 years old and was born in South Africa. My dad’s job brought us to the U.S. when I was 8 and I’ve moved around a few times since. I love to go to the beach, read, ride horses and run!

Tell us about your modeling experience.

Ever since I can probably remember I’ve always dreamed of being a model. We had a lot of family photo shoots growing up so I grew really comfortable in front of the camera. I grew such a passion for the art of it from a young age and I love seeing artists visions come to life through it.

I freelanced for a bit and worked with Iris Caldwell as my modeling mentor; she taught me everything I know, haha!! Couldn’t be more grateful for her!

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to be the absolute best person I can be and live life with as little regrets as possible. We have so many opportunities and gifts in this lifetime, we just have to take ahold of them!

My biggest modeling dream is to walk the “Big Four” fashion weeks and be a cover girl at some point!

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

To be your own kind of beautiful is to understand that everyone has their own unique beauty and being truly beautiful is something that shines from the inside out! We are all perfectly and wonderfully made and it’s so important to always remember that!

How would you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style is definitely more minimalistic but still classy. I love my neutrals and classics, but I also love to experiment with different cuts and colors well!

Who or what inspires you?

My biggest inspiration in my life is the life I want to achieve. I want to live a life full of experiences and memories. My parents are also such big inspirations for me. They have worked so hard in their lives and achieved so much. Their ambition and dedication to themselves, their family and their lives is so admirable and something that truly inspires me in my own life.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

My advice to someone just getting started with modeling is to network network network, but at the end of the day also just be yourself! The industry isn’t about everyone looking the same or being the exact same, that wouldn’t be any fun, your differences are what make you beautiful and successful. Being confident in yourself and who you are is so important because you get a lot of “no’s” and that can ruin your confidence when you’re just getting started. Keep working at it and stay consistent and it will definitely pay off!

Describe the some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

Negative self judgement has definitely been an obstacle that I have had to overcome. I think that we as people are very harsh on ourselves and our perception of ourselves can be very skewed. As hard as it can be, I wouldn’t change my experience though because it’s made me who I am today and given me so much insight as to what is actually important in life and how to look for the light in every moment.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

I think something that makes me beautiful is how in tune I am with my emotions. I feel every emotion so deeply, whether it be optimism or downcast, excitement or pain. As much as people sometimes see that as a negative, I think there’s such beauty and strength in being able to express your emotions so vulnerably and experience them so clearly. I think it makes me very adaptable and allows me to focus on seeing the larger perspective in a challenging situation.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Something I would say to someone who is struggling with their confidence is to understand that everyone has their own insecurities. Think of the most beautiful person you know, chances are they have their own insecurities that you would never even think of! Everyone struggles with their confidence and their appearance, we can control how much value we put on that though by understanding that we aren’t the only ones struggling and that there is so much more to life than the way we look. Something that’s really helped me is turning to my Faith. Understanding that comparison is the thief of joy and that we were all meticulously, beautifully, and uniquely made by the Creator.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
