Tell us about yourself

I go by the name Ozi Pearl Obasi, though I prefer to be called Pearl. Originally from Nigeria, I'll be turning 27 on December 11th this year. I've been working as a freelance model since 2017 until recently and have also delved into acting. I had the opportunity to play a lead role in a short film that received recognition as one of the top ten short films in Nigeria. Additionally, I've gained experience as a music video vixen.

Apart from my modeling career, I am a self-taught fashion designer since 2016. I've organized two successful fashion shows where my models showcased my collections. Beyond these, I have several hidden talents, including being a female drummer since the age of 10, as well as skills in singing, drawing, painting, fashion illustration, makeup, hair installation, and more.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I've gained experience in modeling for photographers, both local and non-local, participating in both paid and unpaid photoshoots. I enjoy embracing diversity in my work as it allows me to immerse myself in different identities for the moment.

What is your biggest dream?

My greatest aspiration is to pursue a career as a print model and commercial model.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

Being my own kind of beautiful means confidently expressing my personal style and infusing my creativity into every work. This approach has been the driving force behind my creativity in all my pursuits.

How would you describe your fashion style?

In a single word, my fashion style is eclectic. I enjoy choosing outfits that highlight my femininity while also reflecting my more tomboyish inclinations.

Who or what inspires you?

I find inspiration in Zendaya Coleman because of her versatility across various endeavors, making a significant impact in each of her projects. I aspire to embark on similar ventures and achieve the same level of success as she has.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

Embrace your authentic self! When you remain true to who you are, genuine attraction from the right connections will naturally follow.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

Overcoming self-judgment has been a significant hurdle for me. Coming of age in an environment that fostered judgment led me to dislike certain aspects of myself. Through life lessons and self-reflection, I have reached a point of embracing self-love.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

My tender heart, optimistic mind  and warm spirit is what makes me beautiful.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Consider what others say about you as an opinion rather than a fact. People often form judgments without knowing the full picture. Don't let their perceptions influence how you see yourself; you understand your intentions better than anyone else.
