Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
I am from Wisconsin! I am 20 years old and I was raised by a single mom. Since being raised by a single mom, being hardworking is one of my best traits. In my free time I love to cook, read, and journal. One of my favorite meals to make is stuffed peppers! I am also Native American and am from the Bad River Tribe in Ashland.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I have been modeling for about two years now. I started on a modeling team in high school and through that I got a gig at the Shutterfest convention. At the convention is where I really upped my modeling portfolio and experience. I not only learned a lot of experience there but I did at Coco Rocha's Modeling Camp too. I attended the online and in-person class. After that, I walked in New York Fashion week and I even opened for a show.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to be an inspiration and a voice for those around me. I want to make a change in the world by helping others. I want everyone to feel equal and that their voice is heard. I want this world to be a more positive place for everyone.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
My own kind of beauty is being myself, when there is no holding back and I can truly be me. Also when I give and am kind to others is when I feel beautiful. Helping other people and making other people feel good is what makes me feel good. If I feel good on the inside, I feel good on the outside.
How would you describe your fashion style?
This is a very hard one for me because I love all fashion! I never want to shut down any ideas, I love being open minded and trying new things. I never want to limit myself.
Who or what inspires you?
There are SO many people that inspire me. But I would say who inspires me the most right now would have to be Audrey Hepburn. One thing that really inspires me was when she traveled to third world countries and expressed her love towards the kids. She always told them that she loved them and her reasoning was that everyone deserved to hear it. I just think that is so powerful and her kindness is something I admire. It inspires me to do the same. She was a beautiful person inside and out. However what inspires me, that would be my family. Thinking of them pushes me everyday to do my best. I not only want to make them proud, but myself.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
Don’t give up!! It’s a long journey. Keep pushing forward, there will be so many no’s before there is a yes. Also know that if it is a no, know that there are multiple reasons why that could be. It does not mean you are ugly or that you are not good enough. You simply might not have the right look they are looking for, they might have someone that already looks like you, or maybe they just didn't vibe with you. You are good enough and you are beautiful.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
An obstacle I have been through is how I have been raised. My parents were very young when they had me, which led to my mom raising me alone. I would spend every other weekend by my grandma and other times on the Native American Reservation with my other grandparents, so my mom could work. My mom worked as a waitress on the weekends, along with going to school full time, and having a full time business job. She really guided me into the hardworking person I am. Having so many people in my life at such a young age also made me closer to my family. None of us would have the relationship we have if my parents did stay together. However, my dad and I started to grow into a relationship! Forming a relationship later in life though was another challenge, but we've been growing to have that father-daughter bond.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
Having a good personality. In my opinion, it doesn't matter what is on the outside, it is how you treat others around you.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
Know that you aren’t alone, everyone struggles with their confidence. To get there do things that make you happy! Wear an outfit that you feel great in, eat what makes you happy, and more importantly hang out with people who make you feel good about yourself. If you surround yourself with good people, that will come back to you. Another tip that always works is to fake it until you make it. People don't know the difference between real or fake confidence. If you start to act confident it will come more easily to be confident.
