My name is Kyliah, I'm 18 years old and I am from Minnesota. I just graduated highschool last year and am taking a gap year to work on modeling. I love art in all forms (music, drawing, dancing, photography) and traveling with my friends. Also I am a gemini for anyone who cares.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I haven't been modeling for very long, about a year/year and a half. I've done some modeling for GreatClips in the recent past and when I was younger, recently I have done more photoshoots and will be walking in a few MN fashion week fashion shows.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to make my way into the fashion industry and model full time, I wanna be on billboards and in magazines, hopefully the cover of Vogue one day. I also really hope to inspire people to feel confident in their own skin and live their lives knowing their worth.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
I think to be beautiful is to really embrace who you are and be confident in your uniqueness. There is only one you and I think that when you fully take that in and love yourself that is the most gorgeous a person can be.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I actually asked my best friend this because I can never think of a straight answer for this and he said "the hardest working fairy in pixie hollow" which I thought was really funny. In all seriousness I feel like I don't have a set style/I am still trying to find my personal style. I do like to incorporate pieces of nature into my outfits a lot but I also like to change it up a lot and try new things to see what I am/am not comfy with, kinda doing a little trial and error process at the moment with this.
Who or what inspires you?
A lot of things inspire me. I think my mom is my biggest inspiration though. She is the hardest working woman I know and has always encouraged me to love myself and is constantly reminding me of how beautiful I am.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
Honestly just have fun with it and stay persistent with what you do. And Make sure you keep your environment positive because the industry can get tough.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
In highschool a lot of my friends aren't actually real friends. I never knew who I could trust and was also walking around being super fake just so I could fit in and was overly independent because of my lack of trust in others. Once I didn't have to see my schoolmates everyday I realized how tiring that is and actually was able to grow into my own personality. I also found that having just a couple close friends is so much better and have found people who truly love and support me.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
Confidence. I faked it for so long and it eventually turned real. I feel like with this I have grown to love who I am inside and out which I think is the most beautiful thing a person can do.
What would you say to another guy/ girl your age who is struggling with their confidence?
Literally fake it! If you tell yourself you are all these negative things you are going to believe it! It is so hard to stop self deprecation and to hold fake confidence everyday but it pays off you will eventually grow into what you are telling yourself.
