Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
My name is Yeyeveliz, I was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and by the age of 6 my mother moved us to Orlando FL. My name can be a bit challenging for some individuals so my friends call me Ye or Yeye. I have heard it all from Yaya, Yiyi, even Yoyo and I’m like eh no. When I was 15 years old I always said I wanted to become a model and travel Europe. God had other plans for me. They say you can make plans and God will laugh at your plans. By the age of 26, which is now, I can say I have traveled Europe. Best life experience to see and experience other cultures and another world. I learned a lot about myself like what I’m into, for example I never thought I would enjoy the country farm life since I come from the sunshine state where its all about the beach and boats. Anything outdoorsy is really my happiness. Also tanning at the beach but I love going on hikes, archery, and just connecting to the nature that was created.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
Honestly, I haven’t had much of a modeling experience. When I was 14 my mother signed me up with John Casablanca which was a modeling and acting center and I can say I didn’t accomplish anything being there. Fast forward to 2021 I attended Coco Rocha Model Camp and let me tell you it was the best experience. The girls at the camp and I learned a lot when it comes to the modeling industry and made us more eager into pursuing our dream as a model.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream huh… I can tell you about all the things I want to accomplish in my life which would be a very long list. But I do have this intuition that God brought me to this world, to where I am to leave my mark wherever I go. I have seen what manifestation can do and I strongly stand by it. Might not be the way you planned it, but surely what you seek is seeking you. And I seek prosperity.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
As Human beings we should share experiences and wisdom in order to become a better version of ourselves.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I would say I don’t have a specific fashion style, since I like to dress in every style. I don’t like to follow trends, I like to follow fashion. What I mean about fashion is putting different pieces together and making it look like fashion. I would describe my fashion style depending the place I am in or the country I am in. If I’m in Europe I would dress Parisian style. Parisian women always mix casual and dress up pieces rather than wearing all casual pieces at once or looking too dressed up. If I’m in New York, I’d wear clothing that transforms your basics into an effortlessly chic ensemble, street style chic.
Who or what inspires you?
My mom for never giving up on herself nor her daughters, as a single mother of 3 girls. Life can be hard and throw stones at you but there is no battle you cannot conquer.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
My advice would be modeling is really a work of art being created by you. Be comfortable in your own skin. Be comfortable with your team and photographers. You are here to make art. Art isn’t perfection, be comfortable in-front of the camera. Don’t feel rush with posing. Use emotions on set, don’t be afraid to make funny (fun) weird faces, get comfortable with funky faces. The art of capturing the selling shot. One way that helps is having a play list. A models job is to sell product. Make people feel something. Create a playlist for the theme/vibe of the shoot. Have a sad playlist and have a happy playlist.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
When I had my son in 2016 I went into a very heavy Postpartum Depression. I tried therapy, counseling, meditation, but nothing really helped me get over that feeling of being in a dark hole. Up until I moved to Netherlands in 2018. It was a whole different lifestyle and culture that is where I learned and met the outdoorsy side of me. In one of my hikes in a trail by mu house I found God. It was one of those moments where I needed some answers in my life and I started the hike with worship music and praying with tears falling down my face the whole time. I asked for Him to direct the path I should take on my hike and He placed a bird at every turn I needed to take. It leas me to the top of the mountain with the sunset happening at the moment and a book left at the picnic table that was there at the top. The book is called, “He made this especially for you” and the content were, “1. God’s desire for you. 2. God’s gift to you. 3. God’s invitation to you. 4. He did this especially for you.” It was the most surreal, emotional, best feeling ever. I cried so much, so so much and ever since then I take it all and look back to how it shaped me to be the mother, wife, and woman I am today.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
I won’t lie, I had to ask my husband about this question as to what makes me beautiful. We always want to know ourselves from other individuals eyes and perspective. You can think you’re one way but to others eyes you may be something totally different.
My personality. The way I carry myself with my head on my shoulders. I am a balanced person. Whatever comes to me I take care of it and good care of it. My demeanor is I am able to handle anything thrown at me. The ability to take over the world, my world. I care for my family and my friends and strangers alike. Always see the good in individuals. How easy going I am and pleasant to have a conversation with me even if the topic is about nothing of significance. My effort to proceed and prosper in life.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
You only have one chance in life to JUST TRY. If you were given one week left of life what would you want to do, what would you like to be able to succeed in your last week of being alive? Take a chance on yourself. Follow your dreams. Amazing things come to those who are authentic. You can do whatever you put your mind to. Just know anything is possible. No time for excuses, absolutely ANYTHING is possible!
