Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
My name is Claire Sully, I am 22 years old. I grew up in Milan Italy with family from Buenos Aires Argentina and Boston Massachusetts.
I lived in Milan for 7 years, and speak fluent Italian, I travel to Argentina annually to visit my family and also speak fluent Spanish. Growing up
I did a lot of extensive travel overseas. I then moved to Boston in 2011. On top of modeling, I am a singer, and actress. I’ve worked with producers and artists from around the world, to students at Berklee college of Music to country singer Kelsea Ballerini’s guitar player. I have music on iTunes/ Spotify and will be releasing new music soon. I’ve also done commercials and background work for movies and shows on lifetime tv and Apple TV.
Tell us about your modeling experience
Modeling is something I’ve always been interested in because living in Milan, fashion was and still remains so important to me.
I’ve done New England Fashion Week, Fashion for a Cause with Vava Designs and Feb. 5th I’ll be modeling in a runway show “Where love meets fashion” all in Boston.
I’ve done numerous photoshoots to build up my portfolio as well and worked with Ikonic management in Rhode Island.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream when it comes down to modeling, is to become a brand model for big brands in Italy such as Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino etc… I’d also like to do work with Coach and Ralph Lauren.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
My definition of my own kind of beautiful is being confident in your own skin, and owning who you are. I grew up being told, take pride in who you are and where you come from. I also believe in the saying, you don’t wear clothes, the clothes wear you.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style, on some days I like to dress classy, wearing jump suits, blazers, I am really big on jewelry. I wear watches, rings, bracelets, necklaces.
Other days, my style is more on the edgy side. I’ll wear outfits that show more skin, such as crop tops, leather jackets, knee boots, ripped jeans.
I’d also say I am very flashy. I like to add accessories, I like to add handbags, jewelry, hats, scarves.
Who or what inspires you?
In the industry, Italian influencer/model Chiara Ferragni and Mariano DiVaio inspire me. I love their styles, I love how they always express themselves and say that what you wear expresses who you are. I think their lives are fascinating. I’ll get some style inspiration from both. Chiara wears a lot of bold colors such as reds and pinks, where as Mariano will wear darker colors such as ever greens and navy blues.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
My advice to someone starting out in the modeling industry is, take pride in who you are, don’t let anyone change you. Work hard to get to where you want to go.
Everyone starts at the bottom, no one becomes the face of Ralph Lauren or Coach in one night. Build yourself up, attend as many shows as possible to gain experience and learn from it. Book photoshoots to build up your portfolio as well.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
Growing up I was picked on a lot for being too thin, and I was just built this way. Eventually it came to a point in my late teens where I had to put everyone’s words aside and just love myself and accept my body. Models are all shapes and sizes and we are all beautiful. I think if we were all the same, life would be so boring.
Today I wake up and find confidence in my own skin and I have learned to accept my flaws.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
The definition of beauty is different for everyone. Mine personally, is owning who you are and walking with your head held high.
Clothes define who you are, and everyone is unique, I like telling people who I am in what I wear. Really just feeling confident in your own skin
And not caring about what others have to say.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
I would express to another girl my age who’s struggling with confidence, that it’s a journey. I’ve struggled with confidence as well.
We start with baby steps and work our way up. And it starts with accepting yourself and expressing how much you love yourself and your body.
