Tell us about your modeling experience.
I am actually new to the whole world of modeling! The most I’ve ever done is have mini photoshoots with my friends. Signing with Hannah Noelle was the first big step I’ve taken so far, and I am so happy that I did. Now, I have the opportunity to gain more knowledge and experience in the field.
What is your biggest dream?
My current dream is to walk at New York Fashion Week. When I was a tween, I used to spend all of my days watching vlogs of models running around New York city for casting calls and fittings. I’ve always wanted to experience that rush of adrenaline and walk for major designers in front of thousands of people. A side dream of mine was also to become a VS Angel, however, with the angels now being taken away that dream may need to be put on pause. :)
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
As cliche as it may sound, having confidence in your own self makes you your own kind of beautiful. Everyone is beautiful and unique in their own way, but the influence of social media distracts people from remembering this. Whether you may have hip dips, big eyes, a big forehead, curves, it all makes you special in your own way. Everyone is gorgeous, pretty, beautiful, whatever term that you want to use. You just need to find the confidence in yourself to help as a reminder, and you will see how truly beautiful you are.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Bougie and Pink. I LOVE the glam and sparkles, but still like to keep it clean and minimalistic with neutral colors. Wearing pink is almost daily for me, whether that be my purse or my apple watch; there is some form of pink on me every day.
Who or what inspires you?
In terms of modeling, my biggest inspiration would have to be Naomi Campbell. From an African American/black/African standpoint, she was the model to set the tone for all of us. Naomi Campbell showed grace and poise while working the runway, so much so that she modeled for all of the top designers and at all the fashion capitals. She is one of the best of the best.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
I still lack a lot of modeling experience so my advice may not be on par with others. However, I do advise perseverance. You are going to get a lot of nos’ from different castings or agents, but there is always someone out there that wants you. :) Continue to have confidence in yourself and your beauty no matter what.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
One obstacle was finding my own individual worth and beauty while attending a predominantly white school. It was very hard to call myself beautiful when I was watching girls with their long straight hair while I was still trying to finger detangle my frizzy curls in class. But after discovering Naomi Campbell, Jasmine Tookes, and other African American friends like me, I was able to feel self-assured in my beauty.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
Personally, I love my big forehead and my smile. I used to be very insecure about it when I was younger as my classmates used to make fun of me for it almost everyday. But it makes me unique, and it makes me beautiful. By flipping the script, I’ve decided to embrace my massive five-head. Now, nothing can stop me now. I find every part of myself, even my insecurities, beautiful. And I want to help others feel the same way about themselves too.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
You are beautiful. There are others that are going to try and drag you down with negativity, but always remember your worth.
