Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add):
Hey everyone! I’m Sophia Wright, 18 years old, from Raleigh, NC. I am currently living in Waco, TX (near Dallas) while studying at Baylor University. I am majoring in International Studies on the pre-law track with a minor in Russian. Modeling is a passion of mine that I am very excited to pursue! The most important aspect of my life is my faith in God and I want to glorify Him in everything I do. I pray all the hard work in these areas of my life will pay off so I can make a difference in the world around me!
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I have done a number of shoots and modeled to promote a local photographer’s business. I absolutely loved it and I am excited to continue to get involved in the industry!
What is your biggest dream?
One of my biggest dreams is to be a successful and well known model, having the opportunity to use my platform for good. I would love to be able to work as an international human rights lawyer one day! I have a huge heart for hurting people and I want to use the gifts God has given me to make a positive impact.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
I think being your own kind of beautiful means that you are strong and confident in who you are, no matter what the opinions of others say. I believe that God has made everyone unique and beautiful and we need to fully embrace our look.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I would describe my style as constantly evolving but for the most part it’s trendy and femeine while at the same time being sporty. I think of my style as an art and my clothes are a way to express who I am outwardly. You will always catch me wearing neutral colors. Right now I love halter tops, low-waisted jeans, hightops, and any dress!
Who or what inspires you?
Without a doubt my mom inspires me the most. She is godly, smart, successful, and a fighter. I've never seen someone go through so much adversity with such joy and resilience. I hope to have her same perseverance and zest for life!
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
I would say be confident in who you are and what you have to offer. Everyone is different and you are the only one with all of your unique traits. Don’t give up or get discouraged. Know your worth!
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
Having to move away from my family was something that was really hard for me. Learning to be on my own has shown me where to put my priorities and how much the people I love mean to me! It was difficult, but I have learned to have confidence in myself and rely on God to give me all I need.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
I think my eyes, my tall, slim, and athletic body, my hair, and my loving and joyful personality are what make me beautiful. I also think that my confidence helps bring inward beauty out! What makes someone beautiful or handsome is personality, confidence, and genuine love for people. While physical beauty is something to be nurtured and appreciated, it is fleeting. Who you are inside is where true beauty comes from!
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
You are beautiful. You are loved. You are here for a purpose. Never believe the lies that you hear from others or even yourself. Have confidence knowing people want to see the real you! There is no need to act like someone else, when you are exactly who you're supposed to be. Everyone struggles with confidence, you're not alone! You’ve got this!
