Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add):
My name is Jenna, and I’m originally from Youngstown, Ohio. I recently relocated to Columbus to try to pursue something big outside of my small town. I’ve always had a love and passion for the fashion and beauty industry but was unsure, for a long time, what role I would play in it. I love how fashion and beauty gives us the power to not only transform ourselves but be unapologetic for it. In my free time, I love thrifting for clothes and furniture and trying out some amazing restaurants!
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I’m relatively new to modeling but so excited for the journey to come! For a long time, I did not have the confidence to pursue modeling. I decided that in life we need to take the risk to believe in ourselves because fear will always be a factor. But, we don’t need to let fear win. I’m so thankful for HNM for their message and giving me this opportunity.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to be able to give back to my hometown. I want to help inner city schools and daycares provide proper education (and resources) to all of their students and families. I worked in childcare for almost 4 years and was blessed with being surrounded by so many great kiddos. They deserve the best.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
Being your own kind of beautiful means being AUTHENTIC. No matter what that looks like. No one can be you better than you can, so OWN it! It’s easy to get wrapped up in the pressure and standards of social media but life is too short to live for someone else. Nothing is more beautiful than happiness!
How would you describe your fashion style?
I would describe my fashion style like Ohio weather. It changes daily. I honestly respect the beauty of so many different styles and eras. How can you pick just one?! Sometimes you can catch me dressed in street wear, the next day in heels and a mini skirt. I love black just as much as I love pink. One day I’m dressed for the 90s, the next for the 70s. I embrace and love it all!
Who or what inspires you?
The thing that inspires me the most is time. That might sound a little weird but it’s so important to cherish every second. I’ve spent so much of my life worrying and stressing over things that don’t deserve my energy. I’ve gotten to a place where I wake up each day and I try to be intentional with every second I spend. I ask myself: Is this 100% what I want to do? Will this make me happy? Yes. So I keep moving forward.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
My advice to someone new to modeling would be to take the risk and believe that you CAN! For a long time I was so afraid to fail that it kept me from trying. You are enough! Set up your phone somewhere, put on a cute outfit and POSE. This will build your confidence with being in front of the camera and feeling comfortable in your own skin. Before you know it, you’ll be better than you ever thought you could!
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
One obstacle I have faced is dealing with anxiety. There were times I didn’t want to leave my house or even walk into the gym because I would have an anxiety attack. It’s still something that will always be a part of me but I’ve worked for years to overcome it. A lot of my anxiety stemmed from lack of confidence (within myself and others). I had to teach myself that things don’t have to be perfect for them to be good. Sometimes there’s greatness beyond just a little bit of mess.
What makes you beautiful/handsom
What makes me beautiful is my love and care for others. Beauty starts from within and I pride myself on becoming a better person every day. I am not perfect and I have my moments, but I know deep down my intentions and my love is pure.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
For any person struggling with confidence I want tell you, you are amazing! Everyone has insecurities about themselves no matter how much they fake it. Don’t think because you are insecure that there’s something wrong with you. We’re all human! I do want to ask what causes you to lack confidence? If it’s society’s beauty standards, SCREW THEM! Can I say that? Delete social media if you have to! Look in the mirror every day and tell yourself you’re beautiful because it’s true. Quit comparing yourself to others and be the best version of yourself! Remember, nothing is more beautiful than happiness.
