Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

My name is Alyssa Tisinai — most people refer to me as Lys. I am from St. Charles, IL and I am 23 years old. I love going to the lake, wake surfing, working out and spending quality time with friends & family. I recently graduated with my Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Liberty University.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

I recently started modeling within the past year. I have done a professional shoot with Zoe Mckenzie Photography recently. I always have loved getting my picture captured and interacting on social media.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to find my dream job in data analytics and work for a major enterprise software company.  I also would love to be published for a major clothing or cosmetics brand.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

To me, being your own kind of beautiful means that you are not defined by anyone’s standards or expectations. You are confident and love yourself for being you. When a person is their own kind of beautiful, they realize that they are imperfect in some way but are happy despite their “imperfections” that the world deems on them. When a person is their own kind of beautiful, they see themselves made in the image of God and are satisfied in that. Love yourself for who you are & how God made you, not who the world wants you to be.

How would you describe your fashion style?

I would describe my fashion style as very versatile. Some days you can find me rocking cozy sweats & air forces and others you can find me in heels and a dress. I am always open to new trends and styles.

Who or what inspires you?

I am inspired by my mom and dad. In every season of their lives, they have always persevered through hard trials and maintained a joyous attitude.  In this, they have also demonstrated gratitude in every season of life. My parents have loved me unconditionally. In their unconditional love for me, it has taught and inspired me to love others the same. They have demonstrated what it looks like to work hard and have that pay off. They have always provided for me in the best way that they possibly could and always made me feel as though I had more than enough. With their dedication and hard work, they have inspired me to go after my dreams and have instilled in me that I am capable of achieving anything.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

With this question, I am speaking to myself too, since I am relatively new to the modeling world. The advice I would give is, do not be discouraged with any rejection that comes your way. Be confident in yourself. Continuously push forward to becoming the best version of yourself in the midst of opposition and rejection. Always remember your “why” and let that be your motivation.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

Some obstacles in my life that I have overcome is that I would compare myself to others and was very insecure. I would often feel as though I was not meeting expectations of others and felt as though I was always falling short. In my insecurity and comparison, I would continuously place my happiness in the hands of others and relied on them to meet my needs or validate me. In that season, I came to a breaking point which made me realize that a person’s approval of me will never be enough and will never fill the void that was inside of me. I came to realize that the only person’s approval that matters is Jesus's and that is more than enough for me. Now walking in His approval, it has made me more confident and happier, it has allowed me to live life to the fullest, enjoy each day for what it is and not expect anything from anyone to satisfy my needs.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

My personality is what makes me beautiful. I am very upbeat, energetic, and loving. I love to connect with people on a deeper level, empathize with what they are going through and encourage them along the way. I also love making people laugh and being a light to each person that I come in contact with.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

I would tell them to surround yourself with people who build you up, encourage you to become the best version of yourself and cultivate your worth. Spend time doing things that make you happy, life is too short to be stuck in our insecurity and not live life to the fullest. Do not be intimidated by those who seem to have it all together, everyone struggles in their own way and is a work in progress.
