Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
Hello! My name is Julia Stephens and I am from Kansas City, Missouri but moved to Tucson, Arizona for college. I am currently a junior at the University of Arizona and am studying Public Health and Spanish. Apart from modeling, I work as a volunteer EMT and plan on going into the medical field. I love to stay busy, and in my free time I like to play tennis, go hiking, do yoga, or hang out with friends and family!
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I have always enjoyed photography and taking pictures of nature because it brought out my more creative side. I had some friends tell me to look into modeling, and I decided to go to an open call for Kansas City Fashion Week when I was in high school. I ended up walking for LOFT and absolutely loved it! When I got to college, I signed with an agency in Arizona, and am now looking forward to expanding with Hannah Noelle Models!
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to have a positive impact on the lives of as many people as possible. I hope that whether I am working in the medical field or modeling, I can help others to reach their full potential and make positive and healthy life choices.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
Being your own kind of beautiful means to be confident, compassionate, and beautiful on the inside, and it will radiate out to those around you. Looks will fade, but people will never forget how you made them feel, so it is important to always be kind.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style is fairly versatile. I really like basics and would also describe my style as girly. Shoes are my favorite accessory, whether it be heels or sneakers, and like to style my outfits around them.
Who or what inspires you?
My dad inspires me. He is one of the most selfless, kind, and humble people that I know. He works hard every day and never complains. He is always looking out for others and will always be the first one to help a stranger or stand up for someone in need.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
My advice to someone who is new to modeling is to trust yourself and go for it. Every expert was once a beginner and we all have to start somewhere, no matter our age or the time in our life.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
When I moved to Arizona when I was 18, I didn't have any friends or family within 1,000 miles. I had to completely start fresh, and it was scary. I used to be more introverted and this really pushed me out of my comfort zone. It was definitely hard at times being so far from home, but I learned that there is much more room for personal growth when you step out of your comfort zone.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
I think that what makes me beautiful is that I have a genuine care for others and get joy out of helping people.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
For anyone struggling with confidence, know that other peoples' opinions do not define you. No matter what you do or how hard you try, you will never be able to please everyone. Just be yourself and do your best, and at the end of the day, it only matters how you feel about yourself.
