Hey !!! I'm Kalonji Brinson. I know it's a pretty cool name my mom named me . She's good like that . My name Kalonji Diop means The Intelligent Ruler . I was born and raised in Las Vegas and I love it there , well I love the West Coast in general . I'm 26 turning 27 ready to take the world by storm . I'm here to create and be a muse to those who want to find themselves as I did .
Tell us about your modeling experience.
Well when I was younger ( maybe like 10 , I think !! ) I really wanted to be a model I practically begged my mom to do things with me like take photos of me for special holidays like ( Halloween or events ) or go to open call auditions , and I've always been very fashion oriented so of course why wouldn't I get picked , not to toot my own horn but back then I was cute and I still am . Anyways , My mom enrolled me into this modeling school called John Casablancas Modeling School . Fast forward , I went to an audition for Kentucky Derby Fashion Week . The person who saw my runway walk loved my walk and said that my walk speaks for itself . At the time my mom wasn't really supportive so I went behind her back and went on my own and did the show. At that time I knew that this is the life that I wanted to have . The new ways to reinvent yourself and find what you love and how to share it with the world.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to be an international model for an Italian Agency. I think with my body type I would have a great fit . I also want to advocate to all those people in the world who don't have a voice.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
I've learned that being your own kind of beautiful means that you first have to accept your flaws and trust me when I tell you that I have a lot of flaws . It also means accepting that it’s those same flaws that make you unique .
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style has changed drastically over the years . Before I use to wear skinny jeans and I mean like super skinny jeans I couldn't even walk , but now my style is more refined and it really speaks to who I am as a person .
Who or what inspires you?
My older sister Kemba inspires me. Her daughter has sickle cell and everyday she is constantly drained , but she gets up and fights everyday for those people who have sickle cell. She is a voice for them . She started an organization to help those families feel like they weren't the only ones going through it as she is now . She's a fighter .
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
My advice for someone starting modeling is trust your instincts . Trust me when I tell you this , your instincts will get far .
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
Each and every obstacle that I have overcome in my life has either changed or shaped me whether it be work related , love related , or self related . In each situation I've learned something significant . When it comes to work, here's my advice - " Do what you love and have no regrets " . When it comes to love , here is my advice - "Never Give Up On Love" . I'm a sucker for a fairytale ending . Last , for self advice - Be Authentic and Do Not Lose Yourself in the process .
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
What makes me handsome ? .. Hmmm .. Well , my answer is not cosmetic wise . I think what makes me handsome is my personality . Let my mom tell it , I'm quite charming .
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
Let me just say this , DON'T BE AFRAID ! DON'T HIDE WHO YOU ARE ! & STRIVE TO THE BEST VERSION OF YOURSELF YOU CAN BE .
