Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
My name is Rafaela DeOliveira and I am an aspiring Model, Actress, and Entrepreneur. I am Brazilian and I can speak Portuguese, although English is my first language. I'm a very optimistic and empathetic person and I'm very motivational and outspoken.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I started modeling when I was 9 with Interface Talent Agency, then they ended up shutting down. After that I started up again when I was 14 but got declined by agencies. Later on when I turned 16 I got signed with Dynasty Models INC and have been in training with John Casablancas and attending Barbizon classes for now.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream in this industry is to be on the cover of Vogue one day and model for many big brands. Even though many people have always told me I'm too short to do runway, one of my dreams is also to be in a big runway show one day. Out of the industry, my biggest dream is to be a motivational speaker and speak to millions, especially about God.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
In my opinion, To be your own kind of beautiful means to be yourself. No comparing yourself to others, or acting different or changing your looks because of others. It is being happy with who you know you are and knowing you are unique and beautiful in your own ways.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style is very edgy and chic. I love streetwear and I just love to dress up and be comfy. I also love to switch up my style and be myself with it.
Who or what inspires you?
My father inspires me. He came from nothing and dealt with many obstacles in his life but he still got back up each time and kept going. He never let anyone talk him down or let anything get in his way. He has taught me almost everything I know now and he inspires me more and more each day to never give up and to continue chasing my dream. He has always been, and will always be my #1 supporter.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
Do it. You may have to deal with rejection, criticism, losing friends or family, but if you truly want it, nothing should stop you. You never know how far you can go with it if you don't try!
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
When I was in 7th grade I was bullied by my (ex) best friend. I was very weak and lost at that time and even tried moving schools. I didn't know how to stick up for myself, I let anyone walk over me. But over time, I realized my worth and that I can't let someone else control my life. I especially learned that someone who tries to bully you or put you down, is already way below you. They are just letting their insecurities and anger out, and it's not your fault.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
What makes you beautiful/handsome is knowing who you are. You could be the most handsome or beautiful person ever, but if you are rude or treat others badly or talk down on yourself, you no longer are. Respecting others and having a nice heart and personality is where the true beauty of a human lies.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
You were born to be different. You weren't born to look like others or act like others. You are your own person. If you're not happy with yourself, don't compare yourself to others or talk yourself down. Work on what you don't like, work on you for you, to be happy with yourself. And, If you do not love yourself, how can anyone else love you? You are your most important project.
