Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

My name is Alyssa Oddo, I am eighteen years old. I’m from Selden, New York. I’m currently a senior in high school. I work extremely hard to keep all my grades up and I play lacrosse. Being a student athlete has taught me time management, leading skills, and has given me confidence.

Tell us about your modeling experience.

My modeling experience has been fun and a lot of work. I work hard between scheduling shoots, posting photos to my instagram, and applying to agencies. I’ve had so much fun thus far and I plan to keep having a good time modeling. While it is a lot of work and dedication, it has had so many benefits to my life over the past two years.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to be able to become a role model for people. I want people to be able to look up to me and all of my successes and be encouraged to do it too. I want to become the face of women empowerment and become financially independent to show women they can do the same.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

Being your own kind of beautiful is not only with looks, but what is on the inside. While yes, no one can look exactly like you, you can share the same physical features. However, if you dig a little deeper, to personality and what’s in the heart, you’ll find something that is not only beautiful, but unique. Someone can have the same nose as you, for example, but they can never have the same personality and heart.

How would you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style is pretty much all over the place. I wear a lot of street and sportswear. But I do enjoy the boho skater look as well. I absolutely love baggy jeans, but when it comes to dressing nice, you can consider me the girliest of girly girls. Any skirt, any dress, high heels, designer jewelry you name it, I will be wearing it.

Who or what inspires you?

My mom inspires me to be a hard working young woman. She has taught me to always depend on myself and that others opinions on me simply don’t matter. She has encouraged me to be strong and never give up. I’ve learned to love myself and show others an unconditional love which she has shown and given me. I wouldn’t be half the young lady I am today without my mom. And I am so thankful to be able to call such a strong, powerful, and beautiful woman my mother.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

My advice to someone who is just starting with modeling is to never give up. This whole process takes time and patience. It’s a lot of work, but in the end all of it will be worth it if you put the time and effort in.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

One of the biggest obstacles I’ve had to overcome in my life so far is mental health. Depression and anxiety are both mental illnesses I have had to face in the past. It took a while to figure out how I was going to overcome them and shape myself to be the person I am today. As I started to focus more on myself, and what I needed to better myself in life, I started to realize that doing the things you love, being around people you love all play major roles in mental health. I’ve learned many lessons about myself and others

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

My beauty comes from within, while it can be shown on the outside with physical features, what is on the inside is where true beauty lies. I have a big heart and care so much for others. I try extremely hard to make all the people I love happy.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

Once you learn to love yourself everything will fall into place. It’s a hard task to accomplish but not impossible. Focus on yourself, do things for yourself and be happy for you. Confidence is key and it all starts with you and how you treat yourself.
