Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
I’m 17 years old. I was born and raised in San Antonio, so I’m 100% a Texas girl at heart. My family and I lived there all my life until about a year and a half ago when we decided to move to Phoenix. So far it has been the best transition and I’m really blessed to have been able to move with my whole support system by my side. I ended up doing my last year of high school online (willingly and not because of the pandemic) and graduating at 16.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I think I’ve always been pretty comfortable with a camera in my face. From my youtube channel, to small instagram brand promotions. It wasn’t until pretty recently actually that I began to pursue it professionally. When the pandemic first hit I would make my dad take my headshots, and was constantly taking pictures trying to build my portfolio. Every rejection and every offer that I’ve gotten as a model has taught me something, and for that I’m so grateful. I have loved every second of figuring out everything as I go this industry, and I know there’s still so much I have yet to learn. I’m really excited for my future.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to be successful enough to pursue every one of my passions, and help the people in my life pursue theirs. I don’t think I have one specific big dream besides that. There is so much I want to achieve that I know I can.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
I think personalities are beautiful and every single one is different. There’s beauty in kindness, love, and positivity. Everyone is their own kind of beautiful, and I think if the rest of society wholeheartedly believed that, we’d be living in a much better place. My best friend Camila is a really good example of that, and she’s constantly teaching me to view people in the best most beautiful light.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I’ve always looked up to my parents when it comes to fashion. Growing up they knew all about these high end brands and they would explain why you should or shouldn’t wear something. Plus they were pretty young when I was growing up, and working in design they always knew what was trendy. I think my style is a mix of both of theirs. My mom has always loved layers and grunge, and my dad likes a more clean, classy look. I’d say I’m an exact mix of both.
Who or what inspires you?
When it comes to inspiration, I take it from pretty much anything. I’m very easily inspired, and I’m grateful for that. It makes my life much easier. Artists and like minded creative people as a whole I think are really good at exciting each other in that sense, and it’s not necessarily them, but the things they make that are inspiring to me.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
Don’t take rejection in this industry personally. There are so many reasons why someone wouldn’t want you, and it’s probably not why you think. It’s especially good to have thick skin as a model. People are going to tell you a lot of things about what’s “wrong” about you, it’s your job to focus yourself on what’s right, and really project that.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
I moved around a lot as a child, and was no stranger to being the new girl. I actually attended 9 different schools before graduating. It definitely taught me a lot socially and it unknowingly made me grow pretty thick skin. My people skills more than anything were affected by this in the best way possible. Overall, I’m pretty blessed to have had the experiences I did and the lessons I gained.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
The first thing that comes to mind is confidence. I think “beautiful” is a mindset, and if you’re set on it, it’ll show. Most of us are insecure about something, but if you own it completely, no one would dream of questioning it.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
There’s something called the spotlight effect. It’s literally ingrained in our minds as humans to help us survive. The spotlight effect can make you believe people are watching you, and are intent on picking apart everything you do or say, just like you do to yourself. I think it’s really important to remember that everyone is thinking that. Nothing you do or say is going to please everyone, so if it makes you happy just do it anyway.
