My name is Asaskia Thomas. I am 24 years old and I’m from Brooklyn, NY. I love RnB music, working out, and spending quality time with my friends.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I’ve never considered myself a model even though other people saw it in me. I always thought of myself as someone who loves art and photography. Now that I’m starting to network with other photographers and models, I’ve started to doing more TFP work to build my portfolio and well doing more research into the modeling industry. I’ve worked with the Modeling Agency of NY (MANY) and now I’m signed with Hannah Noelle Models!
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to be a fashion/editorial model.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
To be your own kind of beautiful means to set your own standards on what beauty is and living up to it. In society, we always try to fit into someone else’s expectation of beauty which tend to be unrealistic. Set your own rules, set your own standards, and be your own kind of beautiful!
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style is a mixture of street wear, chic, and bold!
Who or what inspires you?
My biggest inspiration is my 8 year old niece. She is fierce, she is bold, and she is brave. She’s always pushing me to be better.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
From the good words of NIKE, just do it! Because let’s face it. The only person stopping you is YOU.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
I’ve always struggled with my self confidence and esteem. It took me a long time to learn how to be comfortable in my own skin and how to love myself overall. I’ve learned to not let anyone’s expectation define my own.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
Everything makes me beautiful. From the way I walk to the way I talk. From the waves on my head to my manicures toes! There’s only one me in the world and that makes me unique and damn sure makes me beautiful!
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
Forget what other people have to say about you. What really matters is what you say to yourself. It takes a lot of strength and courage to face your insecurities head on. Once you do, you’ll be unstoppable!
