Tell us about yourself.
My family is originally from Guyana, South America but I was personally raised in Long Island New York until High School when I moved to Florida. Singing and Marketing are passions of mine in addition to modeling.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
It began at a vocal lesson. A model was needed for the Daytona 500. My vocal coach was working the event and asked if I would be interested. I went on to tackle dozens of household brands in promotional and marketing. I began my interest in print modeling, runway and acting in 2015. That year I was an extra in a movie filmed at Universal Studios, did print work for brands and did a few small runway shows for Paul Mitchell and others in Tampa, Daytona and Orlando. I have now been published close to 30 times in the last few months. I have been in several fitness commercials, infomercials, Live TV/HSN and I am proud to have done print work for brands such as Lancome. I am seeking growth in print, fashion, runway and anywhere my dreams and dedication can take me.
What is your biggest dream?
To travel the world to model. To see my brand in cosmetic ads in the store aisles, major magazines and TV. To master my runway walk and walk in some epic shows.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
Knowing that it is ok if there are always people who are more popular, thinner, taller, prettier but when you begin to embrace your unique beauty you will have a glow about you and will attract the success and people meant for you.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Honestly, I am still finding my fashion style. I love a nice pant suit. A jumpsuit. I love retro glamour. I love big bright bold chunky jewelry. I think fashion is about rocking what you have access to with your confidence and accessories that speak to you.
Who or what inspires you?
My dreams and goals inspire me. I will keep working until more of my dreams are reality when I am awake.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
Write a specific list of your goals. There will be distractions on the way and you will need focus. Shooting every niche doesn't necessarily show range. It is amazing to have range but it's important to have a few specific niches that cater to the clients who are ready to employ your brand.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
Wow, extreme poverty made me feel like I didn't deserve anything. Being Multiracial felt like not really having a community. Having an unstable upbringing meant I searched for love and acceptance from the wrong places and when I did not receive it I hindered my own growth and self belief. Obstacles shape you because you cannot move forward unless you overcome and face them. You can avoid them but a decade later they will be right there on your neck and whispering in your ear.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
Self care. If I do not take action to love and take care of myself and listen to my body and mind, I do not feel beautiful.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence? Find the very few people who believe in you when you do not. Be honest with yourself about what you are feeling. Now instead of writing a list of problems and insecurities, write one for solutions and blessings.
