Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)
Hi my name is Mayra Rea I live in North Carolina and I’m 23 years old. I love music and concerts are a huge hobby of mine. I also aspire to be an actress one day, I speak a lot on topics that are important to me such as mental health awareness and female empowerment.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I don’t have much of experience in modeling though I’m willing to learn I always thought that to be a model you had to be a certain height so I never really submitted to agencies or attended auditions nor runways so all of this is definitely something new to me.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream has always been to be an actress working alongside my favorite woman actresses on the big screen as well as modeling for petite sizes. Life wise I just want to be happy and healthy.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
What it means to be my own kind of beautiful is to love yourself no matter the difficult challenges your going through I think self love should always come first before anything especially being healthy and treating yourself is one of the best kinds of beautiful.
How would you describe your fashion style?
My fashion style would be 80s inspired with a sprinkle of street and business attire I love a good blazer look.
Who or what inspires you?
There are many things that inspire me like music for example and my favorite female singers/actresses but the one person that has always inspired me is my mom. I know it’s cheesy but my mom is the most hard working woman I know she literally came to this country as a young adult to give me and my siblings a better life she is always there to listen to us and support us in every step of our lives I’m proud to be a daughter of a strong immigrant woman like my mother.
What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?
I don’t think this question really suits me because I’m a straight fish out of water in this industry and I have no idea what I’m doing but my best piece of advice to anyone who aspires to be a model would be to just do it, life is too short and even if it doesn’t work out at least you can say that you tried don’t be afraid of what others will think people are going to be watching regardless, might as well put on a show don’t be afraid to dream big.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
I’ve always struggled with underweight issues as a child and up until now. I used to be called names in school and that really took a toll on my self esteem which lead to anxiety and depression that later resulted in an eating disorder, I am proud to say that all those things have made me stronger I no longer take criticism and I’ve learned to stand up for myself which has made me independent. There’s a lot of many things I still got to work on and everyday is a new challenge just need to learn to get through it and learn from them.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
You ever heard the saying “it’s not what’s on the outside it’s what’s on the inside“ well that for me is what truly makes me or really anyone beautiful I think as long as your happy with the person you are is what really matters it’ll also generate that glow of happiness and people will start to notice and think “wow she really has it all I want to be as beautiful as her“. I think my personality and kindness is what makes me beautiful to sum up this question.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
I just want to say to any girl from any ethnicity, size, or age out there is that you are all beautiful please don’t get into the ego of you have to look a certain way or be a certain height or weight to fit the stigma of being pretty start to embrace what makes you different and become the main character in your life because if you don’t start to believe in yourself nobody else will, start to work towards your goals and once you’ve achieved them I promise you won’t think about how to be confident because your already confident and successful and you should be very proud of yourself no matter what, your alive and that deserves a round of applause.
