Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add)

My name is Amanda Storaunet, and I am a 24-year-old girl from Norway. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Acting in 2019 and have been the lead role in two short films since I graduated. I love being on stage or in front of the camera performing whether it’s acting, singing or modeling. I have always been a creative soul and love to find new creative ways of doing things. I have dreamed of modeling since I was about 13 years old, but I come from a very small place in Norway where it only lives about 1000 people and had very strict parents who didn’t make me go into modeling before I was about 20 years old. But my dream has always been inside of me and I do believe it’s never too late to fulfill your dreams, whatever it might be.

Tell us about your modeling experience

Since I began modeling, I have been in some catwalk-shows for both hair and clothes and done several photoshoots. I love being in front of the camera in photoshoots and finding different ways to express the character to get the clothes to shine in the best possible way! Also, when I do catwalks, I love the feeling of confidence, feeling like a queen and also human power to rock those outfits! I would love to get more experience as a model.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream as a model is to work international all over the world for big brands like Prada, Tom Ford, Alexander Mqqueen, Vogue, Givenchy and Versace! Both in catwalk-shows and photoshoots, and to be able to walk in Milan fashion week or New York fashion week is a big thing for me! When I think about this I get so many butterflies in me!

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

When I think about being your own kind of beautiful, I think about embracing one’s special uniqueness and the things that make you the way you are. In today’s society we´’e constantly faced with social media platforms with beautiful pictures and videos of “The perfect life”, and it’s easy to compare oneself and then start to reduce our own value because we start to believe that a picture is our beauty ideal even though it’s a lie. I wish that we all could have ourselves as our beauty ideal, just the way we were born, and still find others with all their differences from our self equally beautiful. Our differences are what makes us, and I believe we all could be our own kind of beautiful if we decide it to be.

How would you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style is simple, elegant, powerful, and strong. For a normal day I love wide pants: a black wide pant or wide long jeans with a crop top, which is simple, but still elegant and strong. I love clothes where the statement is “I just put this on because I like it, and I don’t care if you like it or not”. I love long coats which has a luxurious hint, and I love long maxi dresses where you feel like cinderella. I usually dress by what I feel like that day, and sometimes I feel cool, and then I usually put on a black leather jacket. I love the loose with the fit, and also fitted tight clothes which brings out my body shape and gives that sexy feeling.

Who or what inspires you?

I can get inspired by the smallest things to strong and independent speakers, from leaves falling from a tree in autumn, seeing an old building, or interior design, traveling, clothes in a fashion show, or strong and independent women or men who has made their own way in their world. I get inspired by people doing what they love and their own thing, as well as people believing that we can make a beautiful world if we try. Some people who inspires me is Obama (because he is the first black American president and has a very great way of speaking), Coco Rocha (Because she is such a talented model who has made a brand for herself because she chose to believe in her way of doing modeling), Taylor Swift (because she’s such a kind, talented and hard-working woman) and Hannah Noelle (because she used her own obstacles as a strength and founded a modeling agency with great morals with the goal that every person values their own worth).

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

My advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling is to be aware that not everyone in this business wants what’s best for your wellbeing. Therefore, it is important that you are very conscious of your choices in this business. Also, take care of your health, both for your own sake, but also for getting jobs in the model industry. And remember that your body and face is your working tool in this industry, so it is easy to get your body to be the center of attention in your life, just make sure it doesn’t tip over to be something damaging for you. If your mental health doesn’t work, you will not either.

Be strong and fearless, but skeptical, and remember that good things take time.

You can do this!

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

I have always been a very reflective girl, even from a young age. Living in a small town you aren’t guaranteed finding like-minded people as yourself, and for my sake I was interested in acting, modeling and singing, and in my town, most people were interested in hunting, skiing and sports like soccer and volleyball. And even though I enjoyed playing soccer and volleyball, I wish there were more opportunities for my own interests which maybe could’ve done a difference in how practiced I would be at 24 years old. I felt very different from the other kids and had a hard time fitting in, but I think all of my obstacles have only made me stronger and now I feel like I embrace my differences more. Also, I’ve had more time to mature and really know what I want.

When I was 18 years old, I lost my big brother in an avalanche, which was very shocking and horrible, and I still miss him very much. I believe that when someone close to you dies, something happens within you and you get another perspective on life and its meaning. You see the world in a different way, I think.

I have always tried to include all and be kind to everyone because you never know what battle they have inside of them (I believe we all have some sort of battles inside of us. Life is never always perfect for anyone). And after my brother’s death I think I’ve just become even nicer to people around me, if that’s possible … 

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

As mentioned earlier, I believe that our uniqueness and differences are what makes us, and if we embrace that, we can have ourselves as our own beauty ideals and still find others with all their uniqueness and differences from ourselves equally beautiful. And I am not just talking about looks here. For myself, I could say that what makes me beautiful and different is my mole by my mouth or my out-sticking ears, but what I truly find makes me beautiful, is my ability to find beauty in other people, my kindness and devotion for equality, my beliefs that if you work hard for something and never give up, you can have whatever you want in this world. I love that I love myself with all my strengths and flaws, and that, even in my darkest days I still believe that life will get better, and by spreading one simple seed of kindness it can develop into a great green forest. That’s what I believe makes me beautiful.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

I believe we all struggle with our confidence from time to time. It is normal. Especially in this social-media-world where we’re constantly reminded of other people’s lives and accomplishments. It’s easy to compare ourselves with other people’s life and appearances and doubt our own value, but by finding the source for why we’re feeling the way we are, we can start working towards having better lives by thinking, doing or embracing life in a different way. For example, if you doubt yourself because you compare yourself with other people, try and find out why you’re comparing yourself with other people. Is it because you’re on social media? Try to put the social media away for a while. Is it because you want something that someone else has? Try to find ways of pursuing what you want by working hard and contact people that can help you achieve what you want. Have you been bullied because of the way you look or speak? Remember that you are special just the way you are, and what you see as flaws, someone else loves. Find your people, and if you don’t, go somewhere else. The world is full of people and I guarantee you, someone will love you just the way you are. So, don’t give up what you believe in, be kind always, and remember that YOU ARE YOUR OWN KIND OF BEAUTIFUL! 
