 Hello, my name is Tinarena Abambe, I am 20 years old originally from West Africa but migrated to Ohio after being affected by a war. I Lived in Ohio , attended Ohio state university and finally decided to move California to achieve my dreams as a Super model and an award winning Actress and Screenwriter.

Tell us about your modeling experience. 

I have walked for several runways in California and Ohio, shot with many photographers, I was featured by Fenty Skin by Rihanna and I was Miss Ohio Supranational 2020.

What is your biggest dream?

 My biggest dream is to inspire survivors, refugees and individuals from countries affected by crisis. As a refugee before, I remember the days when i lost friends and family to war, I thought hope was lost but today I am in the university, Following my dreams and I can live without fear.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

Be your own kind of beautiful to me means appreciating every part of your body and all your features .  A majority of today’s population has Body dysmorphia because of beauty standards the society has set, people are depressed. This should never be the case, we all need to know we are beautiful and have confidence in our perfectly made self. Let us be our own kind of beautiful.

How would you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style is more Avant-garde ; it’s an ultramodern style that uses fashion as an extension of my creativity often seeking to make a dramatic statement. 

Who or what inspires you?

My mother inspires me. I have never seen someone as selfless as my mother. She protects and continues to protects me with everything she has, I am who I am today because of her.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

 My advice to someone just getting started is that  The small steps are necessary. It is very important for you to shoot with photographers, get practice in front the camera as much as possible even if it is unpaid at the beginning. Take classes if possible, personally, I take acting classes to sharpen my skills. This is how you grow. Growth will then bring you more and highly paid opportunities for you to become the cover of magazines, billboards and more.

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

 My biggest obstacle in life was healing from PTSD after the war, I remember the days when it occurred to me that some of my school mates are dead. This taught me that I was giving life for a reason, I am alive for a purpose and I cannot stop.

What makes you beautiful/handsome?

When I walk into room I stand out as beautiful because I know In my heart and mind that nobody in that  room is my competition, they might be something similar, do something similar but they can never do it like me.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

If you are struggling with confidence I would first of all want you to know that you are wonderfully made. I guarantee you there is representation in the entertainment industry and the world for any insecurities you have, watch those people, follow their story on how they healed, talk to someone who loves you and who you love, hold your head high because you are amazing.
