Tell us about yourself
My name is Nevaeh M. , I am 17 years old and live in CA. I am currently a Junior in High School where I play sports all year round, that includes volleyball, basketball and softball. I am interested in all of my studies; however, I find science to be the most interesting. I like to remain active and live a healthy lifestyle. When I do have down time, I enjoy reading any book available.
Tell us about your modeling experience.
I have always enjoyed the idea of modeling from a young age and was always drawn to any camera. I found all the models in the magazines, campaigns and billboards more compelling than what they were trying to sell. I then decided that being a model is what I would love to do. At 15 I started training with Barbizon and within a few months I booked my first runway show and haven’t stopped since.
What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to experience different cultures and designers through modeling. I would love to be on magazine covers and to travel the world, become an international model and just experience life.
What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?
To be your own kind of beautiful means to love yourself unconditionally. Not everyone will fit into the beauty standard that society upholds. So, it is important to always stay true to yourself and know that everyone is beautiful in their own way.
How would you describe your fashion style?
I would say my fashion style is just like my mind, constantly changing. I love statement pieces, anything from earrings to shoes, but belts are my favorite. I enjoy bright colors and designs. I also try to incorporate my favorite things within my clothing, especially with butterflies. My clothing is one way I can express myself and show everyone who I am.
Who or what inspires you?
My first thought of an inspiration was the model Barbara Palvin, but I have so many important people in my life that inspire me. My family, girlfriend and close friends inspire me in more than one way, they have taught me how to succeed in life and that I can do anything I put my mind to.
What have been your greatest accomplishments?
My greatest accomplishment lay within my modeling career. I have reached a goal that I set for myself long ago and it is the greatest feeling in the world.
Do you have any special talents?
My talent would have to be my athleticism and flexibility.
Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.
Being a military brat of dual military parents, I had to overcome the separation I had with my parents. I had to step up to help with my younger siblings. With either one or the other being deployed for 9-15 months at a time. I was able to adapt and gain strength through the locality changes and this made me a stronger person.
What makes you beautiful/handsome?
What makes me beautiful is the kindness that is within me. I try to be positive, joyful and confident. I love being around people who share the same positivity as me as well.
What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?
I would tell someone who is struggling with their confidence, to find a hobby or task that makes them feel appreciated and beautiful and to incorporate that into their lives. Do something that makes them happy and something that they are good at. Also, to set goals and to strive to reach them every day.
