Tell us about yourself (where are you from, age, whatever you want to add).

I’m Amaranta, I’m 26 years old. I’m from Oroville California. I have a pug named Buggie (whom I love very much!) and in my free time I love to create photoshoot ideas, to model or read books, relax on the ocean and practice yoga. (When I can visit!)

Tell us about your modeling experience.

My modeling experience has been interesting although I can’t say it’s been unique (as I’m sure most models have gone through this path as well); I have been freelancing for about 4 years; recently made an instagram to begin showing my work (2018). It’s definitely had its ups and downs (dealing with creepy photographers, unprofessional environment, no pay etc) but I’m slowly emerging my brand (myself) and marketing myself so I can land paid professional gigs. I’ve learned the hardships of modeling world; long hours, keeping in shape, getting enough rest and eating healthy and I know I have the discipline to succeed and have a career I am passionate about.

What is your biggest dream?

My biggest dream is to be a petite runway model; a permanent one. I’ve seen stories where petite girls walk runways but I want to be hired every year for high fashion shows. I love modeling print/commercial/lifestyle/e-commerce, but I would love to also be able to walk the runway for emerging designers. My dream and goal is to be successful and create a lifelong career In this industry as a model and hopefully one day a role model for young girls and women like myself. I would love to be able to model for American Eagle, Forever21, H&M, Guess, and be respected as a petite model paving the way for other models as well.

What does it mean to be your own kind of beautiful?

To be your own kind of beautiful means to Own your Beauty; To accept yourself the way you are and embrace every curve, inch, and thing about yourself that makes you, You. To be unapologetic and confident with who we are not only on the outside but on the inside. To BeYOUtiful.

How would you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style is typically very colorful. I love pastels; anything pastel colored. (Skirts, shorts, pants, tank top, dresses, shoes) Though I also love cargo pants/ board shorts/simple tank top. (I’m a bit of a tomboy) even though most my photos are in delicate style clothing. I definitely have a little punk rock in me..

Who or what inspires you?

Naima Mora, Tyra Banks, Candice Swanepoel, Daniela Lopez-Osorio, Vivianne Nantel, Keanu Reeves all inspire me. Their talent, work ethic, creativity and hearts inspire me. Kind, Honest people with good intentions inspire me.

What is your advice to someone who is just getting started with modeling?

My advice for someone who is just getting started in modeling would be to Go for It! Be Yourself, stay true to who you are, and Shoot shoot shoot! Create as much as you can, wherever you are, with what you have. The first shoot I ever did was in my backyard against the wall, then it progressed to my tiny little closet but the photos turned out creative! I had so much fun. Always remember who you are, be kind with a gentle heart to others on your journey and have fun!! If it makes your soul smile, then don’t give it- No matter what!

Describe some obstacles you have overcome in your life and how that has changed or shaped you.

An obstacle I’ve overcome was bullying. In high school I was bullied and I mentioned it in a post on my instagram a little while back. It was one of the most difficult times I’ve gone through; (You know the saying “Be kind to everyone you meet because they’re fighting battles you may never know of?) Well that’s true. Very true; and my family at that time was dealing with a very serious, stressful issue and so home life didn’t make the situation easier. I never told my parents I was bullied as bad as I was because I didn’t want them to worry when we had enough on our plate as it was. All in all, I’m grateful for what happened because it made me grow tougher skin and I believe it prepared me for the world today. Any obstacle that comes my way, won’t break me.

What makes you beautiful/ handsome?

What makes me beautiful? I’d say what makes us beautiful is kindness.

What would you say to another girl/guy your age who is struggling with their confidence?

To a boy/girl struggling with confidence... I would say to him/her that Beauty is never in the face; it’s a light in the heart. If you walk with a kind heart, beauty will radiate from the inside out.
